Hi! I used search with "best bank" but haven't found any relevant topics... Basically I'm going to Switzerland and I have to open a bank account. I am quite reluctant to use a "local bank" as it's pain when you move or want to transfer money. I have seen "HSBC" have offices in Geneva, and with them you can have multiple accounts (in other countries) and it's free and easy to ...

Since you need to move or transfer money I'll mention that UBS tries to charge you a percentage (1% I believe) on withdrawals over 100k unless you give 3 months notice. A right pain when you see that the exchange rate is favorable and would like to send your savings back home. Credit Suisse on the other hand will let you withdraw up to 500K without notice. Update! HSBC geneva is only for PRIVATE bankings, which means you need to have over 1million us dollars savings!!! So basically I have choices with UBS + BCS (canton bank) + Credit suisse UBS and Credit suisse are VERY expansive! Like over 140chf per year!! (its like 40chf a year for maestro normal card, then 10 chf per month ) BCS is cheaper but still like 30chf + money ...

I could've told you that. I'm with Postfinance and Banque CIC. For retail, I'd recommend Postfinance.

Hi, were just about to open a Swiss bank account and still waiting for our B permit, which seems to be a problem with some banks. We have our Attestations from employer and Canton stating all is in order. Apparently we can with open an account with BCV and am going to check with CS tomorrow.
