Thread: Bands Like Muse

Started 6 months ago by weirdside
I love Muse's electric/prog rock/epic-ness that sounds like it should be played right before the asteroid strikes and the world is destroyed. People always suggest bands like Travis, but I don't think they sound much like Muse. Radiohead is always sited, but I think they are monumentally boring aside from Creep. People who are Radiohead fans say Muse ripped them off. There are, no doubt, ...

I think Muse have a certain uniquemess. there is no band that sounds just like them (although I expect there will be in the next 5 years or so)

I like both Radiohead and Muse in equal measure tho I wouldn't say they were samey. Can't think of any new bands like them but Muse do often sound like a modern Pink Floyd but in their old style,if that makes sense.

I'd say Placebo possibly come closest for me, perhaps some stuff by the manic street preachers too?

Yeah, Placebo does sound a tad like Muse in a few of their songs, I'll give you that.

Mansun - especially in their Six period - sound impressive when randomly shuffled with Muse.

I just made a Pandora station and started listening to Mansun and I kinda dig them. I looked up Sixth Period and it does have echoes of Muse, but I'm beginning to like them for their own unique sound. Thanks for the suggestion!

I will agree that Muse is a rather unique band. Do you enjoy post-rock at all? To me they seem much closer to post-rock groups than other progressive rock groups. I listen to Muse for the epic feel as well, so I'll recommend some music I listen to for the same reasons that I listen to Muse. This will be hit or miss, possibly mostly miss, but you might want to check out the following: Post...

Try early Queen. Because it's awesome and they have songs about fairies.

First let me say Kei, you a very lucky if your vocals are good, but in the world of Rock, metal, new wave, new age, whatever genre, or sub-genre you're in your vocals must stand out. I think that is the case with Jasper, and that's why he is heading up these bands. I am not primarily a vocalist, even though I can sing, (I've even had professional vocal lessons - but that was in a choral setting) and I can stay in key, but there...
