Half way through the arrticle I was like WTF, but the two additional suggestions at the end shows clearly that it was a joke. Funny thing is how many people who left the comments did not get the joke and are fuming .

Nothing better than a dose of satirical comedy first thing in the morning. Thanks for that; i enjoyed it.

What's probably sad is that I am sure you could probably convince a few sheep to buy into it ... notice how he threw in the tuner car as a bit more fun but I bet that it would be effective ... consider the 'street-racing' images sold on the public. Wonder if that letter actually made it to print as well.

I honestly think that you should ONLY be able to get your drivers license on a stick (obviously with exemptions for those that physically cannot)

Laugh all you want but there are more cars that are being manufactured with semi-automatic/ paddle shift transmissions. Examples like the Nissan GTR, several Ferraris, Mercedes, these transmissions shift faster than any human can. Sooner rather than later the end will come for the manual 3 pedal transmissions.

Some days I wish they would ban manual transmissions in trucks... I have too many gears!

Possibly, but not before they can make a fully automatic transmission that's not twice as heavy and more complicated and doesn't cause (roughly) a 10% increase in fuel consumption on any engine ...
