Thread: BSH CAI question

Started 1 month, 2 weeks ago by Stl2.0
For all of you that have this intake, I have a question. I have an 08, and the MAF is now rubbing against the battery cover because the fit is so tight. This was the only way to install the intake so it would fit, and in pictures I've never seen it fit this tightly. Did I do something wrong?? Its not a huge deal I guess, just wondering why mine rubs...

x2 What HIBB said. I had the exact same thing, even after running the MAF wires around the battery (partially because I was trying to install it in very low lighting). Once you loosen the clamp you can twist the entire intake away from the battery cover and then tighten it back down. btw, check that damn 10mm bolt behind the headlight for the intake - when mine was rubbing it either broke or ...

That bolt needs a nut and lock washer on the back to hold. It is easier to fasten it from the bottom this way too. I wasn't too happy with the hardware in this kit. I would have rather purchased my own. The clamps on the TB/CAI don't match one looks cheap. I don't have a MAF so can't help ya there.

Okay, well could this possibly be the case of a rattle sound I keep hearing then? It sounds like something is rattling whenever I hit a bump or push it harder, but I have checked every single thing and everything is tight...

i had the same problem. It was that bolt behind the headlight. fix- got a washer bigger than the rubber bushing type thing to go over it. and fixed the problem

I wouldn't be surprised if you lost that bolt and it's rattling now. Once I had the intake twisted so that it wasn't rubbing the battery cover, the braket that the bolt goes through was seated flat and it hasn't come off since.
