"Atlas Shrugged" was published 52 years ago, but in the Obama era, Rands angry message is more resonant than ever before. Sales of the book have reportedly spiked. At "tea parties" and other conservative protests, alongside the Obama-as-Joker signs, you will find placards reading "Atlas Shrugs" and "Ayn Rand Was Right." Not long after the inauguration, as right-wing pundits like Glenn Beck were ...
You know. I went through an Ayn Rand phase when I first started my undergrad. I got over it quickly when I realized that not only was Ms. Rand a bad writer, her ideas were pretty crappy as well.
I think alot of us go through that phase, only to grow up and wake up. There's certainly nothing wrong with that.

Producers finally go on strike. Society collapses. Useless eaters suffer.
Don't forget the rape.
[ETA: Really, it's kind of an okay book, even though it's about twice as long as it needs to be, due to John Galt's nearly-endless monologuing.]
My favorite quote (so far) from the Sparknotes:
Quote:
When a fire breaks out and they work together to put it out, Francisco understands Reardens love for his mills.
Second favorite:
Quote:
She falls in love with him, but she cannot give up her railroad. . .

That means my summary wins. And I didn't even finish the book!

She pointed out that the resurgence of Rand is this time happening even in religious conservatives, which is...

I like parts of The Fountainhead. But, again, Rand's earlier works are much more readable, IMO. My personal opinion is that Rand's work declined due to depression and other mental issues. The feelings in Anthem are ones of, "I've...
