Thread: Athlone bars and restaurants

we dont realise how lucky we are in athlone for good pubs and restaurants. there is alot of choice to be fair when you sit down and think about it.

Thanks for the replies. You've given me a great starting point. Really looking forward to going now! Looks as if there's plenty of options. Yeah, deccurley, we're a couple in our mid 20's so thanks for the heads up regarding The Palace. I'll keep an eye open for Coppers.

The Castle Inn is a great spot for the match. You won't get any grub there though but The Palace is just up the street. Agree with previous poster though, stay away from The Prince for the match - no atmosphere, the grub is good in there aswell though. Don't go to the prince for a match, there's no atmosphere and they have the sound down fairly low. For the match go to The Palace, It'd be the best town pub for the match If you want a great atmosphere for the match go to the tack or the coosan tavern

Try any other similarly size town, Athlone beats the pants off them, I think its because of good competition and the fact that the town isn't run by one family like a lot of other towns.

Athlone has a fantastic range of restaurants that are all really good. Not bog standard cafes and chineses but really top quality restaurants! We are lucky alright.

The Left Bank is a great spot for lunch and then across the road to Sean's Bar for the match!
