It all depends on how the previous owner treated it. Your question is similar to "are used cars any good?"

Depends on the unit VF (vortech) has been making superchargers for a long time and they last a long time in a street application. Powerdyne uses belt drive for the internals and they also last a long time. $4500 is more than you can get a new kit for these days. VF is selling their stage 1 new for $3800.

We enter the realm of technologies that live on the bleeding edge. Cheapie shortcuts fail miserably here. Are there good used units? Sure, a few, a scant few, but you have to be a very good wrench to find them and coax them back to use. Else, just money down the drain. Just ask yourself honestly: do I have what it takes to keep from being scammed?

how about tuning? if you get a used or new super charger... don't you need to do upgrades to:: fuel injectors, tuning (maybe a programmable ecu), boost controller, turbo timer, and some boost gauges.. what else do you need?
