Are they real? did they ever really exist? Or did someone make up the idea of dropping all the guys keys in a fishbowl and having the women fish them out to pick their partners?
Nowadays it's hard to imagine swinging happening that way... and I just read this little "gem" 'Cougars' Craze Is Fabricated Farce - Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld - FOXNews.com which isn't really about swinging but this ...
Julie,
I think that VegasLee has described key parties in the past. As a modern note, I heard about a key party in our area not too long ago. If they didn't exist many years ago, they do now.
S
I certainly can imagine them existing. It's not hard really. A house party is somewhat close to the idea. The only added thing here is the randomness of the person whom you select to play with. Maybe there might be people at the party you're not attracted to. That's certainly a concern. But, a small gathering of four to eight couples, yeah I could see that.
Whatever you can imagine one human ...
Haven't been around long enough to remember them when they were supposed to
be all the rage, but they do exist now. Their is one in our area this
month, we won't be attending, but we know a couple who is.
Another thought on this. In the swinging histories I have read, modern swinging started with military officers during WWII and the "key parties" were attributed to that era. You have to keep in mind that the couples involved were already very close due to the stress of combat and the very real possibility that any of them may not come home from the next mission. The wives were as closely ...
Some years after my father died his best friend told me a story of the key parties that they had as young men and newlyweds.
It seems that there were four couples in this particular group who, on occasion, would throw their keys in a basket and the ladies would pick a set of keys. If she picked her husbands keys that particular set would be left out and she would choose again.
He said it ...
Not sure that I have spoken of them here before but yes, they did exist both long ago and still do in recent years.
I have seen two types. One the car keys and the ladies picking them out of a box or bowl.
Other at conventions when room keys still had numbers on them. The rooms keys would be put in a box or something and picked.
I know that happened when you where around Julie, ...
We were at a party recently that had randomness over who you interacted with. Winning a segment of a game allowed the guest to choose another to provide a "favor", or alternatively direct two other guests to interact. We really were not comfortable with that situation, either saying no or not having control over who we played with. Unless we were attracted to all of the couples there we would ...
Yeah, it made for a great scene in the Ice Storm, but I'd prefer to choose
my partner. Even at our favorite parties (hell, even at our own party this
summer!) there are men I would not play with, even though they are
perfectly nice people.

Lee said it well... For hells sakes, its ONLY sex. I'm not looking for a date, a boyfriend or a husband. I have a husband, and believe me, nobody can take his place. We've only been swinging for about 3 and half years. Not nearly as long as some, but we're in it strictly for the variety of sex. We don't want to be best friends first, we just wanna have sex . We've had many couples contact us that have this NEED to be...
Re: Are key parties just a farce? Someone should throw one. Infact, I'm going to see what I can do with friends I have in Germany. Let ya know how that one turns out.

Maybe there needs to be an official Swingers Board key party to put any questions to rest once and for all and ensure that there has, in fact, been at least one fully documented occurance
