Thread: Are all celebrities 'gourmets'?

Started 1 month, 2 weeks ago by gutreactions
We always read about celebrities: actors, athletes, politicos being spotted at different restaurants? While it may make for compelling reading, does it mean these folk know better than us about food and dining? Should it influence you? I think not...What do you think?

It doesn't influence me, but it's a light, fun read.

They are probably getting the meal comped. So read into it what you will.

Gross generalizations don't usually hold up in any situation. "All" celebrities aren't anything because they are still people and you can't lump "all" people into any groups. There are celebrities who are well known foodies like Robert De Niro and Gwyneth Paltrow whose opinions I respect because they are serious about food. Other celebrities, who eat at restaurants to prove they are A-list ...

You only have to remember Jessica Simpson's comment about tuna being "chicken of the sea" to know that they are just normal people, some smart, some dumb, some hating things, some loving other things. I just wish I had the cash to visit the great restaurants that they can afford to and sample the food that they can!! just because they may be able to afford it doesnt meen that they all ...

"Are all celebrities 'gourmets'?" One of the world's greatest celebrities favorite food was a fried peanut butter and banana sandwich. I think that answers the question. (no)

I doubt it. Celebrities, just like everyone else, have varying tastes and desires. Just because they're seen at a high-end or well-publicised restaurant, doesn't mean that they're a gourmet. The nature of the industry suggests (often) that they're at a restaurant either to be seen, or because they themselves didn't choose the location (their friends or publicist did). We can only guess at ...

I think with celebrities as gourmets the idea is that they have the ability to eat anything. That money, time, and access to fancy places in any part of the world are no obstacles to them. Presumably they have advisers who are paid to be experts or know experts in fashion, food, decorating, etc. They even could have access to private chefs. Celebrities are basically the real life "if ...

Of course not. They go because they can. I'd say it's a total crap shoot whether some celebrities even know how to pronounce half the menu, let alone know what they are eating. What I'd really like to know is what they order and how they conduct themselves.

For sure they're not! They're just people. People with money and other priorities I guess. I know that Jack Black likes to eat Dorito Burritos : Buritos with Nacho Doritos in them. Thats hardly gourmet!
