Thread: Apple's Magic Mouse: yes, it still has one button.

engadget.com — one button, multitouch gestures, Bluetooth, four-month battery life... but yeah, still one button.

Sigh, Apple had a button-relapse. Get the intervention group back together...

Original poster and commenter need to know more before commenting on said product. The new Magic Mouse has two button functionality via clicking the upper right corner of the mouse surface (customizable to the other side if you are left handed and want to change it) Watch the video on this page for confirmation: http://www.apple.com/magicmouse/

How obvious. That sounds much better than just adding a right mouse button. /s

It is better...think no dirt or other crap to clean out or to adversely affect the function of a mechanically moving part. (anybody love cleaning out stuck scroll wheels etc?)...

graywolfz10 replied 2 months, 2 weeks ago
They still make scroll wheels?

hayden.evans replied 2 months, 2 weeks ago
@jakem1 welcome to the year 2009. Advancement of technology that eliminates any moving parts is always a step forward.

That video never loaded on my Chrome despite repeated refresh.

Apple. Still putting style ahead of functionality.

btschul replied 2 months, 2 weeks ago
Which functionality is removed, exactly?

monodelasno replied 2 months, 2 weeks ago
I think you mean what functionality has never existed

I have, and it stinks. Whenever you try to right click, you're rolling the dice, and about 15% of the time it performs a left click instead.

@ScooterComputer: Read. The. *****. Article. > So does Apple, and nothing exemplifies the company's march towards a > buttonless future more than this "two button" laser mouse Let's assume you have trouble reading. Magic Mouse provides both left and right click by sensing which side you "clicked." It is therefore a two button mouse, with one electromechanical mechanism. Being that it...

4/10 Not quite FredFredrickson's level of Apple trolling, but you show promise.

I have tried it. Having to lift your left finger in order to right click is idiotic.

I've used a "Mighty Mouse". I have quite a collection of them gathering dust in a drawer. While I prefer OS X and Macs in general, I've yet to use an Apple mouse that I haven't disliked. Maybe this one will finally break the curse but I'm not holding my breath.

A comment from someone who hasn't even tried the new Magic Mouse. An axe works great too, but wouldn't a chainsaw be nicer to use?

So, the last time you built a computer was ten years ago, and you chose to argue about it for, how many posts now? Things have changed, buddy, since '99. I mean, we're talking the year Europe switched to the Euro, Chrono Trigger and Metal Gear 2 came out, and Futurama first aired. There's nothing to screw around with when building modern machines. Most pieces just snap into place. (There are a lot of cases that are advertised as...

How is it a single button mouse? Do you need to see a line in the middle that delineates the sides before you understand that you can right click with it? And, the prototypes microsoft are playing with now, are the EXACT same thing as what Apple released to consumers. How about nobody can acknowledge that Apple is usually ahead of the game, because it's not popular to do so.
