Thread: Anyone used nationwide autocentre for servicing or m.o.t

Started 2 months, 1 week ago by Jem.
Im now going to be looking for a different place to get my car serviced it seems a good bargin to go with this company because you get 15% off a service if you are with the AA,And you get 33% of a m.o.t,So are they a good place to have a car serviced? And what about m.o.t's do they actually do them there? And how strict are they because when i have my next m.o.t i will have a decat pipe on,Could ...

They are as good as the people who work in that branch. My experience of them is when a mate worked for one and he said they can be pretty strict on the MOTs as they made money from doing the repairs. Usually odd little things like headlamp alignment. But again this may have just been the branch he worked in for a while.

I think that MOT testing centers that don't do repairs as well, are always the safest bet, unless they have a good reputation.

Ok,You see we have a problem around here all the garages say they do the m.o.t's they have that sign on the window but they dont all they do is take them to one and no matter what garage it is its allways the same M.O.T garage,I dont want to drive to far to a garage just incase it fails,Nationwide is 14miles and i think thats quite far to go for a m.o.t.

I've the same opinion as the other two chaps above. I have got quotes from Nationwide Autocare on a couple of occaisions and found them to be pretty pricey TBH, even with the AA discount. The main advantage with these sort of places is that they are often open when other places are closed, so more accessable...

Ok seems it would be better to find someone else,This is what i paid for my last service: Oil Filter £8.29 Air Filter £9.84 Fuel Filter £13.27 Polun Filter £9.97 Screen Wash £1.10 Sump Washer £0.80 Lubriciants £26.30 Sundries: £1.50 Environmental: £3.50 M.O.T £54 Vat £25.57 Labour: £96.00 Total £250:14

Seems to me theres a bit of a saving to be made there by your own parts and having the garage fit 'em for you. Most places would be happy to do this for you, as they still make on the labour charges...

Best way is to try it yourself. It is really not that difficult. Saves a bit of money on Labour as well. BTW what is a polun filter?

BIGGUNS replied 2 months, 1 week ago
BTW what is a polun filter? pollen filter, basically an air filter for the fresh air coming into the car via fan/vents.

BIGGUNS replied 2 months, 1 week ago
another thing, the price quoted for a MOT, £54............................. they paid £54 on your behalf, laughable.

As said I believe it's a franchise so it's down to the local garage I've used the one in Canterbury many times for an MOT and I'm happy with it - my ex housemate has his car serviced there too (which is why I started going there for my MOT)

some servicing is mileage related, some is time related. if you had a brand new car stood in a garage, with zero mileage, over the years, the coolant, brake fluid and cam belt would still need changing, amongst the more obvious things.

ZS's arn't in any way similar to 75's in the pollen filter department. The leaf screen as you call it should be removed regularly and the...
