Anyone here make the switch to the Michelin LTX AT2 tire? If so, how do you like them thusfar? Also, what tire did you have prior to this one and can you compare the two?

I need new tires on my F150... but I need really good performance in the snow too.
I was looking around at the General Grabber AT2 tires... from what I've read, they are pretty impressive tires and they last a really long time.
I'm going to get size 265/65/R17 for my truck.
Any remarks would be nice before I buy them....
yes, i have had them on there for about 10K miles. love them. wearing good. quiet. excellent in the snow and rain and actually improved my gas mileage. run 42 in them. had the stock ones, they were the goodrich. then pur michelin cross terrains on that i had from a previous truck. when they wore out i put the stocks back on and hydroplanned one time and they were off.m check out costco ...
I've had the older version of those tires
Michelin makes an amazing tire. I put almost 30,000 miles on the pair I had, and the were barely worn at all.
But the pricing on them sucks. You get what you pay for...but damn.
I recently bought the new Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armour in a 265/70/17 (32") and absolutely love it...it's rated #3 behind the AT2...and $20 cheaper ...
I had them and they get my rating of FAIL
And this was my personal experience with them....
Here's my review of them at tire rack

Bought theses tire to replace my OEM generals (p255-70-17) which had 20k on them with over half tread remaining. Bought the LTX's in p265-70-17. As Soon as I left from having them installed I noticed they pulled to ...
I ran the LTX A/T's a few years ago and liked them fine. Had about 12k or so on them when the truck was totaled, looked like brand new. I was quite suprised how they did off-road, especially in mud. Although you'll just look down your nose at the mud and say "I don't think so".
Have you checked any other AT's like BFG, Nitto, etc.?
I have the stock BFG AT's on there now. They have been 'okay' tires (they have 62k on them right now and probably still have another 12k) but, I'm looking for something that is a bit more suited for my driving (which is 99% pavement - with rain and snow in the mix).
I really like Michelin -- I've had them on nearly everything I've driven in the past (wife's Explorer just got a set of Cross-...
They definately get my vote, currently running them on my 07 as my stockers ran flat with under 20k miles. Currently at 31k so i put right at 10k miles and see very little wear. Mainly on the edges because i like to corner doing 40 ... but watever
Anyway -- the tire works well in rain, ice, heat, and anything else u throw at them.
To the above poster w/ the pulling. I encounterd the ...
blackjack -- I had actually read your review at Tire Rack... from the sounds of it, you're a minority with regards to how most feel about the tire. Too bad you didn't pull them off and set them in your garage... I'd buy them off of you.
We had a set of Michelin tires on our Compass and they were alright... but they all 4 wore quick <30k miles.
My Hankooks on my F150 are like 3/4 gone.
I was thinking of either Cooper or General Grabber as my next tire for the F150.

awesome deals for our trucks...you can get the entire combo for less than just a set of tires
I was looking at those tires aswell, but up here in Canada they run $335.00 each. I have my eyes on the goodyear duratrac now. They run $330.00 a tire and are way more aggressive. I was not a big fan of goodyears but the factorys have 60k with no problem but they need replacing now.
Update: Put ~750 miles on them. 1/2 highway, 1/2 city, and some pseudo offroad action. They are great tires. I highly recommend them. The road noise is minimal, the ride is excellent, and the traction is excellent. I can't wait until the winter.
I'm surprised, i ordered mine and them about 4 days later, although i live about an hour from the general plant, plus i ordered with my dads work id so that helped speed them up for me. I will ask dad about that manual and see what he says. Personally I really can't believe that, its crazy the amount of tires they ship out in a day, trucks are in there 24/7 literally, i have been up there to help dad on some computers up there and...
Thanks for the linky Tylus. I'd love to find a set of takeoffs... that site doesn't have much right now. I'm wanting to stick with the 275/65/R18. I missed the deal of a lifetime about a week ago on craigslist (2009 FX4 take offs for $500 -- under 100 miles).

RP, have you checked out the LTX M/S? I had those on an AWD Explorer a few years ago and they were the best set of tires I've ever had. I put almost 60k miles on them in 3 years and never had to have them rotated or balanced. Awesome in the snow and rain.

I have the general grabber at 2 on my 94 and love them, I had bfg ta/ko before them and they were also a great tire. Both of them are great in the snow, and good handling. I have about 10k on them and barely any ware. The only bad thing is the road noise is a little louder than with the bfg's, nothing turning up the radio can't fix. But overall a great tire.
