I've always just thought Ike was an extremely spirited child. Kind of walks to the beat of his own drum and doesn't take discipline well. Laura I am so sorry. It is hard to swallow and come to terms with, but as you said you have a diagnosis and that's what is most important now. There may or may not be a vaccine link. They are also studying advanced maternal ages of men/fathers as there also seems to be a link there. When a child falls into the spectrum with a mild case, it is hard to tell whether autism is on the rise or not,...

Marie, Thanks for sharing your family's story. Knowing how hard this has been for us over the past several months, I cannot imagine waiting 5 more years for a diagnosis! And you are right about it being a full-time job. One of the things we're not sure about is whether to seek out an official medical diagnosis. We already know that he will get services through the district and we've spent so ...

Laura, We finally got the "official" diagnosis b/c school would not give him the services he needs w/out it. If your school system is cooperating and making sure his needs are met, you may not need to. However, it might be in his best interest to get a diagnosis at some point b/c you never know how things could change with schoo...but you don't necessarily have to do it right away. Sam's ...
