Man, I haven't seen that movie in literally years. There was a time when Mad Monster Party was an October staple on TNT, but that was back in the days of the "Wild World of Shorts".
I'm a fan of Rankin-Bass. I have a couple of those Christmas collection DVD sets with the major specials on them. I also have DVDs of Mad Monster Party, Jack Frost, Petter Cottontail, and The Easter Bunny is Comin' to Town. I also have unofficial copies of Smokey the Bear and Life and Adventures of Santa Claus and taped a few specials on tv. I actually hadn't watched Mad Monster Party until a...
I'm more familiar with Rankin/Bass' Christmas output. And I must say that I find their pre-1975 library to be pretty good, but then after that, it sort of seems as if their shows were hit and miss.
Some of my favorite Rankin/Bass specials are:
Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer
Santa Claus Is Comin To Town
Frosty The Snowman
The Easter Bunny Is Comin To Town
Jack Frost
Rudolph's Shiny ...
I am.... I like the Rudolph and Frosty specials out of the 1960s..

Paul O'Keefe of "The Patty Duke Show" as young Hans Chirstian Anderson, aka Chris, and in fatc, Patty Duke HERSELF later as Thumbelina, plus some Disney stars such as...

A couple of other Saturday morning shows I like from RB that are animated...The King Kong Show 1966, The Smokey Bear Show 1969, The Jackson Five show 1971, Thundercats 1985.
They also did the Osmonds 1972, Kid Power 1972, the Hobbit 1977, The Coneheads 1983, the Wind and ...
The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus (paired with Nestor) & The Flight of the Dragons were released by the Warner Archive brand today. You can get them on the wbshop.com website.

Yahoo! I can finally own a legal copy of Flight of Dragons.
I always thought the Rankin/Bass holiday specials were some of the best, and they were a big part of my childhood. The Classic Media releases are now on my shopping list.
