Yes possible choose a top pharmacy in your first big city www.drreddys.com top in India Brand Doxycycline 100mg #100 in a new sealed bottle with good dates should be no problem to find will not cost much. take 1/da in malaria hot spots and for 30 days after leaving the malarious area.

Malarone is not available in India, nor is proguanil. Mefloquine is sold under a number of brand names, but availability is spotty. Try a big pharmacy in a large city. Doxycycline is widely available. As for which ones you should take, it depends on where you will be going, as well as your own health history. nhs may reccomend that combo but cdc in the usa does not recommend the same combo as there is widespread resistance to chloroquine in india. that seems to make better sense to me

Apollo Pharmacy is another big pharmacy. I don't know whether they make it, but Cipla is another top company (that produces pharmaceuticals).

Is Doxycycline OK to take in India? If it's widely available then shouldn't it be one of the recommended to take? Is there reported resistance against it? Obviously, it will be more difficult to take the others as I won't be going back the UK for another 6 months.

#5 yes doxy is used and recommended for this purpose and there is no reported resistance to this drug. google it and see it can be taken by you and what the side effects are

Doxy - safe, few contra-indications and even fewer side effects (all of which have easy work-arounds). Be sure as qwovadis said that it's within expiry date. Seriously out of date Doxy can be toxic!

Yeah the biggest pain with doxy is taking it everyday. I've heard that some people find that they are more prone to sun burn and skin problems. I have psoriasis and a really bad ginger gene. I get sunburn just looking at the thing and I must admit that I experienced no real problems that way, but i wear factor 1 million.
