Looking to purchase an Amish made, solid maple (no veneers), executive desk and bookcase like the two pictures below. I have contacted several resellers and their quotes are dramatically different from one another. Having never bought something like this, am I able to decide on a price that I think is fair and offer it to them? I mean, it can never hurt, but what is the most likely way to go...

Definitely not cheap, but the look is a "must have" of mine ... I was considering an oak desk, but way too tacky to match with my maple floors (4.25"W)...and this kind of stuff hardly ever pops up on the classifieds what was your service with Woodcraft like? reliable? trustworthy? good customer service?

I didn't end up buying the table I was looking at Woodcraft. Went for something completely different at Elte instead. I know you want no veneer but if you change your mind, you can look into Hooker furniture. I have a TV cabinet from them, well built and they have the style of desk you are looking for.

You might want to Google on "mennonite furniture." The heart of Mennonite country is around Hawkesville , a few kilometers NW of Waterloo which, according to Wikipedia, has several companies that specialize in custom furniture.
