Thread: Am I a bad mommy?

Started 1 month, 3 weeks ago by mom2rileyceleste
We struggle constantly to get our daughter to eat.  We do not give her milk or water at dinner because she will get herself full on liquids and not eat anything so we all do without drinks at dinner.  Tonight she refused to eat anything I put on her plate which was baked pork chops, green beans, and macaroni and cheese.  She fought us for 20 minutes refusing to eat.  She wanted a drink, she ...

My DD will only eat fruit, bear paws, yogurt, milk, and plain wagon wheel pasta. That's it! I am so stressed out about this!

We didn't really fight with our about dinner.  What I had in front of her were things she would eat or at least one point or another has ate.  I did eventually take most of everthing off her plate except 2 pieces of meat (about pinky nail size), a few green beans and a noodle or two just to downsize her plate in hopes she would get something in.  Which failed.  The fighting was more her crying ...

My son is picky, as well.  I will give him water only w/ dinner, and even then not a lot of it (like 2-3 oz or so) so that way he can drink if he's thirsty, but not fill himself up.  I make sure I serve him 1 thing I know he'll eat, and the rest is optional.   For example, tonight he had pork chops (wouldn't eat), broccoli (hasn't touched a veggie in months) and applesauce (inhaled it and ...

I have a picky eater too... well I actually have two picky eaters as DS older sister doesn't eat great either.  What I noticed with DS though is that he only eats one good meal a day.  If he eats a lot for lunch he will not eat great for dinner and if he barely touches his lunch he will eat great at dinner.  Also... I had to take away his morning snack and feed him lunch a little early because ...

I hate that we are going through this with our little one's but it's helpful to know I am not the only one at a dinner table any given night struggling to get my DD to eat. Thanks for everyone's advice/opinion/words of encouragement!

My DD will only eat chicken nuggets and mac n cheese half the time with us for dinner.  But I asked the babysitter as she goes to an in home and apparently she eats well there.  So i dont worry too much cause she is right weight and such.  I also pair apples or some fruit with her mac n cheese to give nutrients.  She also likes yogurts they are pretty good for her.    You are not a bad mom.  I ...

I know on the days DD gets a late snack at day care it is like pulling teeth getting her to eat dinner, and my kid eats EVERYTHING. We just try to make sure she is relatively hungry for dinner and she does well for the most part. Historically, though, her biggest meal of the day is breakfast so we make sure we load her up well with oatmeal, bananas, eggs, etc. As long as she eats a lot at ...

Just keep offering nutritious foods.  She'll eat when she's ready.

My DS is a picky eater too.  He only eats chicken nuggest, fish sticks, hot dogs, grill cheese sandwich, bread, loves the gerber cereal bars, fruit snaks and yogart melts.  I can't get him to eat anything off a spoon.  Like pervious post stated, if he seems to be eating one good meal a day.  If its not a lunch time then its at dinner time.  Yesterday he a nuggets a dc but he wanted nothing for ...
