Thread: Alpha pseudo problem ( Carbon )

Started 1 month, 2 weeks ago by Tywrap
I just received a new Alpha Carbon last week. Up until this morning I can\'t say enough good about this watch. Great looks, perfect finish, very nice layout, great size, keeps time very well ( -3 sec in about 24hrs), nice price. All that being said I went to put the watch on this morning and while strapping it to my wrist I noticed a sound coming coming from the watch when I would move it. ...

Here\'s my take on it: Maybe the movt screws are a lil loose which then results to loose movt in the case. Sometimes a person wouldnt notice it until a lil shaking of the movt or it couldve been a foreign object enlarged between the rotor and movt. Remember im only guessing. Here\'s something you can try if its not a screw down crown, grab the crown and see if the ...

yes. it wasn\'t tightened enough in factory. just take the back off and carefully tighten it down. but it\'s not a cylinder head on a smallblock bolt. tight on a watch isn\'t the same as tight in an engine. good luck. fix this and you should be very happy.

Thanks watch-art! What should it feel like when it is properly tightened? Anything else I should beaware of when doing this fix? And yes I\'m more at home fitting turbochargers to race engines that tweeking those iddy bitty watch gears :) Thanks again for your help

sure. but like i said, tight on a watch doesn\'t mean you need to torque it down. ummm... turn it until it stops. use a small screwdriver (obviously) and only use, say, your thumb and middle finger. turn slowly once you hit some resistance, and you should feel when it\'s good. once it\'s snug, that should be good enough. a lot of problems turn up in watchmaking when people feel they need to...

Ok had the watch on today for about 40min. and everything seemed fine. Than I noticed the scraping sound was back and very loud when I would move the watch. Upon further inspection I found that the weight was contacting the back glass while it spun. It was still attached but loose. I also noticed the screw in the center that holds the weight on was now spinning ( not just spinning on the ...

My friend brought in his case tool to work and I opened the Carbon up this morning. Tighten the screw holding the weight just barely until it stopped ( per Watch-Art\'s directions). put the case back together. No more weird noise, no more tilted weight!!! Wooohooooo :) I\'m going to monitor the screw orientation after wearing the watch for a full day and make sure it doesn\'t back out any ...
