Thread: Ali Kebap posters

Started 4 months, 1 week ago by marko167
Hi, I have recently noticed posters going up around Basel that show a portley chap holding a kebab knife with the logo "New in town Ali Kebap". Can anyone shed some light as to what they are advertising. Cheers, M.

It's a viral campaign for a "new" fast food place opening in the next few weeks. Can anyone guess what it is????

It's the new Sloggis advert, I am planning to leave Switzerland for the next few weeks to avoid having to look at pictures of Ali in his shreddies!

yes the regulars on here are pretty much aware of this, for a newbie or someone who's just arrived in the country, it might be a bit of a puzzle

To me it just goes to show that past experience affects you perspective. I just saw a fat guy with a greasy kebab and the word HEPA B, because of the chosen font. I took it as a crass attempt at a health message- a total turn off. Why couldn't they have had a little more respect for the public and given us a beautiful image?

Quote: tapirul can't you all put this in the context, people? that's a campaign to get into people's minds that the muslims are invading the country. hotel, airlines, knives, etc. the message is "they're everywhere!" and you saw the results of this at the past referendum. Best conspiracy theory of this year! I love it!

And I, clearly too blond, didn't even make that connection...So either I'm really dumb or I just don't have a xenaphobic mind set and saw past the picture..

Quote: Dougal's Breakfast I saw a smiling, friendly man of Middle Eastern origin preparing a delicious meal for my enjoyment. That's pretty beautiful to me! Not my problem if some less enlightened people make aesthetic judgments about others because of the shape of their bodies... I truly thought it was an ad for a Kebab shop and actually wanted go try it out. It's not negative at all.

It's actually quite mundane. If a business can afford to put up all these posters all over CH for two weeks, it's bound to gain a lot of awareness but at what price?

Now we need evidences of who is behind APG (Alikebap Posters Group). Is it SVP or Taliban or ...!?

Quote: SteveZ wow...what a surprise!!! English Forum turning yet another innocuous topic such as advertising posters and turning it into trash-talking, vitriolic sociopolitical debate. whodathunk it. There's never anything innocuous about a fat man with a kebab.
