Yes. No problems with any of the carb cars. All external dimensions and bolt holes are the same.

And also , no electrical stuff to change . Carbs might be bigger but it doesn't mater.

Greek replied 1 month ago
No , they are almost the same, only the ventouri and needdles are bigger but 36mm are more responsive.

carbs are different, 40mm for the 1.7 and 36mm for the 1.5 i've had an alfasud Ti with a 1.7 engine, on the 36mm carbs and the short ratio 1.5 TiQV gearbox attached i found that a superb combination, and much smoother than my original '87 33 1.7 QV with its original 40mm carbs, so you can use your 36mm carbs on the 1.7, but have it tested on a rolling road to make sure it doesn't ...

Why would you use 36mm instead of 40mm? I don't get it. You will problaly loose bhp on the 1,7 using the small carbs.

Very true Greek, the 40mm tend to cough at low revs until the changeover to the main jets.I run that setup in my S2 33 now.Used a 1712cc from a 1988 Sprint with the 1490 qv box.Higher 5th gear means it's not revving it's guts out on the motorway;i.e 4000rpm @70mph in my old Sprint now is just over 3200rpm with the later 33 'box.

I bought the sud with the 36mm carbs i had not noticed it until i took the car apart bhp-loss was not noticable, like i mentioned it preformed better than mij 33 1.7QV

Even if you have 36mm , changing venturis and needles you can have 40mm so no need to buy new bodies.

geat info My 1.5 has a bad nock i think big ends, great body tho no rust, do i give up on fixing the 1.5? I have found a 1.7Qv motor with 273km was running but the owner have smashed the front left side and striped everything of the body what would you recommend i buy and do to the motor before install? or are the km to high. owner says the tappers are a bit noisey but good ...

@supercharged16v, that's good enough to start with i guess, at the moment i've tried running one on rejetted 1.3 carbs, and i've got a feeling that its running a bit too lean that was on a friend's car by the way for myself i'll practice some trial and error to see which carbs are best, since i have every possible carb in stock , that's what happens if your hobby gets out of control lol in the past years i have...
