great news, lets hope our newly undemocratically elected senator o brollochan is ignored as he was by the electorate when he starts whinging. The city badly needs this event back, it was a great family day out and an outstanding success. Time the public stood up to these begrudgers.
Great news! Galway badly needs it, also about 99.5% of the population if voting would back the airshow, thats called democracy, I hope unelected failed politicians and left wing hacks do not try to subvert the greater will because they think they know better, an f-16 in Kosovo saved thosands of lifes in preventing a genicide there, a butter knife in a chavs hands in galway can be a lethal weapon,...

Well lets look at the facts, about 100,000 + went to the last proper airshow, about 50 went to the anti airshow event, thats demoncracy in action there

Lets not get too carried away here. It's not confirmed that it will be back, just that the council has put aside 15K for it. It will take a lot more than that to put it on, so nothing is confirmed yet.
Well yes, CO2 emissions would be an issue, but at a 1 day airshow event I dont think thats a significant argument. The planes would probably be flying somewhere else if they were not booked for Galway. Im guessing most display planes are short haul from the UK etc to minimise fuel etc. (where did blue angels fly from last airshow anyone?). Have been searching for papers on air show disturbance on habitats, but have been unable to find...

Dont forget the emissions from the cows too
I can't confirm it officially, but the Red Arrows will be here for the Powerboat Festival at the start of June. However, until I confirm it, take it as speculation
