Thread: Adult Beginner - Squash/Tennis in Limerick?
Started 1 month ago by camera
Would be grateful for any advice
Based in Limerick. Male, 35 and interested in taking up tennis or squash as beginner. Just want to keep fit and get invloved in a club. Dont know if this is feasible for the above sports but have always had an interest in them.
Any advice on clubs in Limerick that could cater for someone of my "standard" would be great
Thanks

Try http://atdhe.net/ . Got a very good stream for the Gasquet V Nadal match.
Not sure how often you're looking to play but Sandycove Squash club is currently expanding.
There's a yearly membership but once you join it's only 4 an hour. With that you get the added bonus of leagues, opponents, club nights etc. The courts are in good condition too.
See my older post here or PM me for more details.
i ve been playing for about 15years now , never played in any competitions, i dont even know how a match works, we just play 1st to 9 points and you must win the games by 2 points clear, and see how many games we get in for an hour
played 5 or 6 people of the years only one ever played it in competitions and leagues,it would be fun to test out my game within a league, although i might look a bit ...
In the Leinster leagues and our club leagues we use a double yellow spot ball, but if youre happy playing with the blue one then why change. Whatever suits your game.
Scoring-wise too, its to suit yourself. In the leagues and competitions Irish Squash have changed the rules so that we now use American scoring. You play up to 11 (win by two points) and you score a point whether youre serving ...
I'd agree with the review, it does feel disconnected and a bit clumsy at the net. Although I do find it good in the serve and whenever I just let rip with a big forehand. I kept the string that was on it, Dunlop M Fil Tour 16. It'd say it would be a good choice for someone with tennis elbow.

I think federer will beat del potro comfortably in straight sets. Admittedly only saw the finals sets of each of their last matches...
2 closer matches than i expected. Murray winning in the end, but all for nothing. The Fed-Delpo match was not the best standard, but was dramatic enough. Great fightback by Fed in the 2nd set TB, and then good stuff by Delpo to take it from 3-3 to 6-3 getting through by 1 game! Happy to see Murray miss out, i just can't take to that guy at all.
Was thinking of getting one of these myself. Been playing with a Wilson K Blade 98 for about a year but have been out for about a month now with tennis elbow. The Dunlop seems to be a bit more flexible but i read some reviews that it feels a little dead. What string do you use?

I am doing a project for college on tennis for adults.I have no experience in tennis at all as i'm a boxer. Can anyone tell me a typical/good warm up and cool down for tennis and in a typical training session what the core elements of it are. or even if anyone can recommend a book/site to me that i can read up on it myself thanks
I have a 12 years old son and he plays squash in Leopardstown WW. He takes some lessons as well, but he doesn't have any kids (the some age) to play with. On the site i found some information about junior squash. Do you have it or not? how old are they? who is coaching them? Thank you
Hi, Living in navan and hoping to take up badminton/squash. Played a bit of both many years ago. I hear there are 2 badminton clubs in the area. Don't know where the nearest squash court is. Which might be better for a beginner? thanks
i tried it and unfortunately it's mostly doubles, because of how many people show up. also level is below average to average (with some exceptions). what level are you?
Each week I'm now playing soccer with the latino guys on... Each week I'm now playing soccer with the latino guys on compound, and basketball with the filipinos. I wonder who plays squash & tennis?
