Thread: Adult Acnomel and Septra/Bactrim/Sulfamethoxazole

Hi all, I'm taking Sulfamethoxazole, also known as Septra or Bactrim, orally for my cystic acne. I'm interested in trying out Adult Acnomel topical cream containing sulfur as well. Would this be too much sulfur in my system? I know sulfur in certain forms and at certain concentrations can be toxic so I'm a little nervous. Thanks in advance for your help!
As someone who has had acne for years and tried basically every otc, I'd say get a cleanser with salicylic acid, which is much gentler and doesn't irritate your skin as much. You may want to get a Benzoyl Peroxide 10% for spot treatment though. This combination has sometime kept my acne from getting worse, but it never really made it much better. If you have sensitive skin, DON'T EVER USE...
PROACTIVE DID NOT WORK FOR ME OR FOR ANYONE I KNOW. The first week it seemed like it was working, and then it made my breakouts worse, dried out my skin--my face felt itchy and was really read. I don't have dry skin--I have oily skin, so for something to dry out my skin and irritate it that much means it must be really bad. It was a horrible waste of money. As far as benzoyl peroxide goes...
I've tried every otc acne medication without much success (some salicylic meds help a little but don't cure it). Anyway, I recently came across these dead sea mineral acne products from adovia, and the exfoliant is fine grain dead sea salt. I've only been using them a week, so I don't know if it works or not. I can say that my face doesn't hurt as much as it did with proactive or acne free...
Hello all, I'm new to this board. I just thought I'd start out by sharing a little about my experience, since I can't really talk to anyone else about it (it's just too humiliating). I've always had slightly oily skin. When I was about 12 I started getting blackheads, and when I was 15/16 I started getting acne. I used noxema/clearsil/clean and clear, etc. But the acne was only on my ...
QUOTE I went to guatemala for 3 weeks, and had no breakouts Compare the light exposure to your eyes during that trip to your normal life. Were you spending much more time in bright outdoor light then than now? Were you sleeping regularly in a very dark environment more then than now?
Hey, how do you use jojoba oil? and is it enough to use a cleanser? Do you use it before wasshing your face then rinse off or do you wash ur face with cleanser then use it as a moistuirzer? ALso does it cause you to break out? Would leaving loads on at night cause outbreaks??
Hi. I used use jojoba oil the way Dan Kern suggested, mixed in with moisturizer. But it felt and looked a little too greasy for the day so I started using it directly after washing my face, before the benzoyl peroxide. It absorbs right away into my skin, doesn't feel greasy, keeps the BP from overly drying my face. Good luck!
Looking at their website I immediately suspected a scam. I did some research and yes: this is most likely another scam from the notorious Devore brothers. They keep putting new brands on the market. Though the ingredient list looks good, this is definitely a product that has only one purpose: make money. It wouldn't surprise me if within the next days one or more newly registered users will...
Don't bother going to a doctor to get a 20% SA peel. 75 dollars is a rip off! I bought a 30 ML bottle for 26 dollars from amazon. That will last me about 10 peels.
QUOTE (Smooth Criminal @ Dec 9 2009, 08:39 PM) hi guys-- i have been wanting to try the metazine gel, but so far i have only gotten as far as trying oral niacinamide. it's only been about 1 - 2 weeks so it's too soon to say yet whether it's working or not. all of your info and updates about topical niacinamide has been really helpful! i was just wondering, for any of you who are using it, do you use it...
QUOTE (Paxter @ Nov 17 2009, 07:43 AM) Hi all! 2 weeks ago I bought "Exposed SkinCare" treatment for acne, which includes -2.5% BP gel -facial cleanser and tonic -1% salicylic acid PART 1 At the end of the first week, results were visible. I was very glad. PART 2 Now, at the end of the second week, I have TERRIBLE breakouts on my jaw, cheeks and forehead, even worse than before. Whiteheads appear...
QUOTE (JayQ @ Dec 9 2009, 11:59 AM) QUOTE (JayQ @ Dec 8 2009, 02:57 PM) Has anyone seen or used this before? Only 1 review on it and i am currently researching more on it. 24-48hours seems far fetched, so wondering if anyone else can comment on this? http://www.healingedge.net/store/product1.html Ok since no replies on that one i am assuming nobody has even heard of it or used it which is not a good thing. So...
It could be the titanium dioxide in that particular Olay moisturizer. It's used as a pigment (white) and thickener in skin care products, and it's also used in sunscreens for sensitive skin. It seems like it could still produce the same whitish appearance of zinc oxide that some people on the forums have discussed.
I got a 15 or 20% (can't remember) salicylic acid peel.. it's the MUAC (makeup artist choice) brand. I love it. I've used it plenty and it always refreshes my skin and makes pimples shrink and my skin glows. I just used it a couple days ago and my skin has been a bit flaky, but other than that, all is good.
