Thread: Adhering powder to coroplast

Started 6 months, 1 week ago by DrTune
Hiya, Need to do a really large surface area (450 sq ft) of coroplast. Don't need a very high quality coating, and it only needs to be marginally scratch/smudge resistant.. but I would like it to stay on in light winds. It's pretty tight budget b/c I'm going to be spending a lot on powder and coroplast; what adhesive/solvent do people recommend? Was thinking of using a spray gun (like ...

I think I would do this with the waterbased paint. I wouldnt dream of doing that large of a surface with dusting. I will test a sample on Monday, but I think it should adhere. BTW, I love coroplast. I use it for all kinds of stuff. Abbeytoo uses it a lot too.

I, too, would use the waterbased paint. You'd need WAY too much powder to dust it. It wont be 'smooth as glass' with the paint, but it wouldn't be with the dust either. IMO waterbased paint is the way to go on this. and for the record,...I LOVE coroplast! I use it for lots of different things. I love it so much I paid some ridiculous amount for a special coroplast cutter that I can't live ...

Yep for my project I was thinking of using fiberglass for a while, but Coroplast beats it hands down. Trying to decide between 4mm and 6mm. I have 3mm here (test sheets) and they're nearly rigid enough but not quite. Do either of you have any "clear" coroplast to hand? What I'd really really like a picture of is green GITD paint (1-2 coats) painted (and glowing brightly, e.g. 5sec after ...

Have you thought about making a scrim or screen? You could make a wood frame and stretch some white mesh like you can get for bridal veil or sheer curtains onto the frame. Then paint screen with glow paint using a roller so as to not waste any like you would with a sprayer. Or paint the screen with a glue and then dust the screen. Use a large clean surface that you can later sweep up and reclaim ...

Hiya, no, it's got to be coroplast. Stretched fabric is not suitable (flappy in the wind, requires frame). Fiberglass was the other option but coroplast beats it hands down for cost, weight, and ease of construction. Translucency won't be as good as fiberglass but can live with it.

FYI, good places to get coroplast: I have specific requirements (6mm clear) which is not that common (few sign places nead "clear" so there was none available locally) Harbor Sales on the web is excellent - shipping can be pricey but they have a good range (4mm-10mm) and good quantity discounts. I needed quite a lot (800sqf) so I went with these guys. 25 sheets of 4x6ft 6mm coro + freight ...

Thanks for the heads up on places to get coroplast. Are you on the east or west coast? Isnt Harbor Sales in the east? FYI people who have guinnea pigs use coroplast to make their cages, houses, huts or whatever it is that they live in. They are usually up on where to get it pretty cheap. Here is a link from a GP site with places to find coroplast http://www.guineapigcages.com/...
