Thread: Actually went out to dinner

Started 1 month, 1 week ago by CTMOMto4
Last night, since our regular Sat night dinner guests weren't here and the older 2 kids were out for the night, I "allowed" DH to take me and the 2 youngest out for an early birthday celebration to the local,Greek diner. New menu again=even higher prices, sigh. I warned everyone to be reasonable. DH noted that shrimp cocktails were now $11.95-we passed. No alcohol either for us, which ...

Happy Birthday! We enjoy going to the Greek diner by us too, but I tend to always get the same thing, a gyro and others like the breakfast for dinner. They have a tasty hot roast beef sandwich but that has gotten too expensive to get. I think you could buy a whole roast on sale for the price. SOunds like your dinner was a nice change from the usual....

I told the family that we will continue to not eat out. It's just too darn expensive. : ( Aww, there must be some more inexpensive places near you where you can still eat out, aren't there? But I do hope you had a happy birthday anyway. :-) Linda ~Lv2Cook~ You don't have to cook fancy or complicated masterpieces - just good food from fresh ingredients. Julia Child ...

Linda-believe it or not, this was and might still be, one of the "affordable" family restaurants in my county. Very expensive area to live in. Local pizzeria costs me $65 for 3 large pies (not just cheese, with toppings) so I taught myself to make homemade pizza this past year. Sandwich shops locally are at least $10/head. Life in Fairfield county, CT .. .. Carol in CT

Happy Birthday Carol. We visited a "diner" on our drive through your area but I can't remember the name of it. It was off the highway (Rt 95) but not far. I wonder if we were at your diner! Joan (in Massachusetts)

I didn't want to rain on anyone's parade, the food was good, portions generous, we went early and avoided the rush, the restaurant was fairly quiet, it was relaxing. The $100 however, could have gone to construction costs. I am learning a lesson as I type this, Carol. First of all Happy Birthday! Second I know money doesn't grow on trees and I find myself saying "don't spend any money...
