It would seem that Colt would have withdrawn all those slides which are machined in that way. The issue is known for quite some time now.

Here are a few pictures of my two 70 series. I've owned the stainless for almost a year and 400 rounds, and purchased the other Colt new yesterday. Unfortunately both have offset plug hole issues so I'm sending them back to Colt. I have seen that Colt does a fair job at addressing this common problem for other customers, so I hope everything goes smoothly. I'll post pictures when I get both guns...
