Thread: A history question from the "wife" and "husband" in AZ

Started 1 month, 1 week ago by kj7lo
We just met with a whole bunch of Miata folks. We have a 1990 and they were all telling us that we should not have the emblem on the nose. They said the emblem did not appear until 1993. We just got the "MX-5 Miata The book of the World's favourite sportscar" and there are 1990's pictured in the book with the emblem on the nose. (awesome book by the way) So, does anyone have an emblem on...

They were correct (although I thought the toilet bowl badge was added to the front bumper in 1994 it could have been in 1993). It should NOT be on your 1990. If I saw a 1990 with the emblem it would make me wonder if the front bumper was replaced due to an accident in the past?

My '90 does not have the emblem. I am not the original owner, but there is no sign of accident damage or repair and the rear has not been de-badged. So, mine does not, but not entirely sure whether it should. Sorry, not much help.

kj7lo, The NA6 (1990-1993) has the cooler decal "Mazda" on the driver's side. If I were to put a badge on it I'd put the Eunos "V" badge on it.

For the North American, European, and Oceania markets, all years of (1989) 1990 to 1992 were without emblam on the nose. Only the Japanese market Eunos Roadster had an emblan (no Mazda identification at all, actually), which is a V within a circle. All other cars should have a "mazDa" script sticker on the driver's side. For 1993, Mazda adopted the "tiolet bowl" logo...which adorned the ...

The only badge that will ever be on the nose of my '90 will be this one. http://x4c.xanga.com/047d5bf74253011.../w86081871. jpg

Here's a picture of my '91. It has no hood badge and has the "MAZDA" decal on the driver's side. Yours should be similarly adorned.

Yours should just have a MAZDA lettering sticker on it on the drivers side

Since Japan forces vehicles off the road (or makes it very expensive to keep them on the road) after a certain age, there is a big source of fairly low mile parts coming from there. What the kiddies get all spun up over is that the motor is 'JDM',...
