Hello DFW friends Here is the long-promised new diary.
I?ve had a diary on MSE since January 2007: My old diary
In the first year, I worked hard, focussed obsessively, and reduced my debt by 13 grand. After that, my focus slipped, tax bills caught up with me, and my debt seesawed up and down, so 18 months on it?s barely 2k less than it was in January 08. The fact that it has reduced ...
The debt may not have gone down as much as you might like - but it HAS gone down. In years gone by, it may well have gone UP. So progress really has been made
Do you feel more in control of things now you have an element of "guaranteed" income from the employed work? And once you have paid the ?1300 tax this month, is that your big bill cleared, or do you still have some to pay?
I'm ...
Thanks everyone.
Is OH teaching again? That's a big question. He has been booked for 2 days this week but has no contract for them, so he is bravely refusing to go until he has assurance he will be paid. The payment problems have escalated - in May he got nothing, in June he got paid for 13 of the 44 hours he was contracted for, never mind the 88 plus he actually worked. This is our ...
The holiday sounds wonderful...really idyllic .
Chiucago would be nice as well..you are lucky there..lol.
That college is so irresponsible...can't believe how they muck him about.
We go on 18 August for two weeks. I've been to Tuscany, it is lovely. The place we're going to is in Liguria, I will have to get a guidebook out of the library because I know next to nothing about it.
It's 2010! Hooray! My debt today is £241.96 MORE than it was on 1 January 2009. But never mind! This year it WILL go down. I have enough money in my current account to pay my tax bill so this will be the first January ever when I don't have to borrow. Since starting on MSE three years ago I have reduced my debt by about £17,500 BUT that has been entirely due to loan payments. The amount on credit cards has actually increased by...
Happy New Year, Seaxwyn. I hope 2010 brings you and yours everything that you wish for and that life runs smoothly for you all! My house too is reasonably tidy - mind you, I have been working at it all week......and it is still only "reasonably" tidy Still, that is a significant improvement on its usual state!
As you say, Seaxwyn, you're doing the best you can - just keep doing a bit every day (and give yourself a little bit of you-time, even if its only 5mins - thats what I'm doing on here, btw).
Hey Seaxwyn Merry Christmas Hope you are having a good day and that santa has been good to you all and that the turkey has managed to feed everyone with plenty of left overs Buddiebabe x
taxi said the same thing as i thought, it is a decent wage. and you can BUDGET with it . did you get any job seekers through yet for other half, or is that a pigs might fly situation with the dole office! chev
Your poor OH has been going through it hasn't he Seax - like Hypno says though that must be the bad luck done and dusted so bring on the good stuff instead! Hope his ribs are on the mend soon.
