Christmas Classics are few and far between, arguably there have been three or four in the last twenty five years (Santa Clause, Nightmare Before Christmas, Christmas Vacation, and Christmas Story), Love Actually, is, in my mind also a Christmas Classic, but I've found many people don't think of it that way, which is sad imo.
Lately the trend of Christmas movies have been all "I hate Christmas"...

Is Abbie Cornish the standout? From your review, it sounds like you really enjoyed the film, but you say in a weak year, she could be up for awards consideration, as if she's good but not "amazing" like some earlier reviews suggested.

My favorite Campion film remains An Angel at My Table. I want to see this for the story and the acting. Though it sounds like the cinematographer helped Campion make a better film.
Laz, do us a favor and stay away from this thread until you see the movie. Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it Veri! I didn't care much for the death scene, I found it too forced and the stuff that followed kind of dumb. Otherwise, I liked the character.
