Started 4 years, 9 months ago by ArmyBrat

I had never done anything like this before and was quite nervous about painting my new BM. Well here are the pics! I still ...

You are very welcome! Great job! And you can call me Jim! It will only look better as it fully cures. I think you should call it "Shadow" so you could sing: "Me........and my Shadow.... Blasting down the shooo..ting range......" I really like the looks of it too. The toughest part of doing it is just getting the guts up to begin...... Way to go! That's ...

Hey ArmyBrat, that really turned out great. You did a fantastic Job. Jim is a great guy, I gave him a call once myself. Seems very willing to help others. I think you should call your BM "Black Diamond" It may have started out as a diamond in the rough, but you've got her looking like a real Gem. Thanks for showing her off. Happy Shooting, ...

Looks good, but I think you should call her the "Stove Pipe". "Don't make me get my Stove Pipe!" Andy-

One of my instructors in the academy was a wizened old State Trooper who was quite a character in his own right, he used to pat his pistol and say "Don't make me put you on the stupid meter!" I really liked that guy.

I think a contraction of both Jim and Smitty's ideas...."Diamond Shadow"...ooooo....I like it! Thanks for all the help and comments guys. The hardest part was actually getting started, the rest was easy after I took the plunge. Think I'm gonna DuraCoat my metal rifle mags now....gotta use up the paint!

AB you can use a high quality 1/8" brush to coat the "pins" that show through the frame from the hammer pin, slide relase, trigger retainer, and safety. Just dip it in your premixed paint and swab it on. This stuff is so forgiving that it's OK to cheat that way. Just apply a thin coat, let it dry then hit it again as many times as you feel needed. I know that worked for me as touch up anyway. ...

DuraCoat says that if you use the Stainless coating you will need to use clear as well to get the right look. Give Steve a buzz and he'll tell you how to make it look really nice.  Jim
