...adobe buying out Interakt was one of the worst things thats affected my work....just as bad as adobe buying macromedia. As with Macromedia, Interakt made you part of a community where there was a real melting pot of sharing knowledge and experience. Adobe comes along, throws its cheque book around as its realising that its losing ground and hasn't really comprehended what the consumers of...
Dear fellow ADDT users, Adobe has now officially announced ADDT´s discontinuation on the product page - quote: ************************** Adobe Dreamweaver Developer Toolbox development to end effective April 9, 2009 After careful consideration, Adobe has decided to discontinue development of Adobe® Dreamweaver® Developer Toolbox 1.0.1 software effective April 9, 2009. Sales of...
Adobe quotes: Existing customers are encouraged to consider the development environment of Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 software. ------ Show me one tutorial that creates a Dynamic List and Dynamic form with all the same functions and control of ADDT but without ADDT. Then I will consider the "development environment of Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 software" as a serious tool that ...

Wow. So sad. An amazing set of tools. I hope there is some sort of effort made to move ADDT back to the world of the living - maybe some other business entity will see the wisdom in purchasing and rebranding it? I dunno - grasping at straws here. I REALLY hope all the years of Interakt/ADDT forum help posts are retained and kept alive - such a huge despository of knowledge should not be ...
What a sad news! Adobe is definitely going the wrong way. I know there is money in between, but now? what about the aquired interakt team? Will they go somewhere else or will they be able to rebuild the glorious interakt? Who knows? I am a Coreldraw user and I see here the same thing I've seen about Corel Ventura 10: it is still, today, the best DTP application around. But Corel ...

Many of them have been working for a long time on other Adobe products, including Dreamweaver, InContext Editing, and Flex. I assume they will continue to do so....
Holy crap .. why on earth did they bother to update it for CS4 only to discontinue it a couple of months later? Here was my favorite part of the announcement: Visit the Adobe Developer Connection for resources on building web applications and dynamic websites with Dreamweaver, JavaScript, Ajax, PHP, and ColdFusion. Looks like ASP is also out in the cold in the next version of ...
Nancy wrote: Holy crap .. why on earth did they bother to update it for CS4 only to discontinue it a couple of months later? --- Actually be glad that they did it. There were a few issues that needed to be fixed and I for one am happy that even though they knew they were going to trash it that they at least fixed the version that was already circulating. But the whole thing is ...
NancyG wrote: Holy crap .. why on earth did they bother to update it for CS4 only to discontinue it a couple of months later? whatever the reasons may be, it´s certainly a positive outcome having a version which runs with CS4 and which comes with a handful of significant bug fixes like making the MultiUpload components work with Flash Player >= 10 -- if the ADDT developers hadn´t ...
Honestly, I'm pretty disgusted that Adobe bought out interakt only to discontinue all their products. I have been an interakt/developer toolbox user for years now. I'm EXTREMELY dissapointed. And now there will be nothing. I use webassist too, but Interakt/developer toolbox is far superior. I know that this reply isn't going to do any bit of good, but I really wish they wouldn't do this....
I find myself a bit confused by your post. This is a thread about the Dreamweaver Development Toolbox (ADDT) .. do you have that for CS3? Clearly you are a Cold Fusion developer and as such, there isn't a lot in ADDT for you. Same is true for ASP developers. The advanced stuff in ADDT is mostly PHP only. If I were in your situation, I would probably just stay with CS3. It's stable and given that you don't...
lazlo wrote: Zend Studio is the alternative, you build in this application, rather than DW, its module based so you upload what you require. Zend Studio is excellent. I have used it for about 18 months, and like it a lot. However, Zend Studio is by no stretch of the imagination a replacement for ADDT. Like Dreamweaver, Zend Studio is a development environment. It has a lot of time-saving features, such as excellent code...
NancyG wrote: That would be a great idea. Why not find out what other developers could do with the core? I think it would be the best possible license with huge benefits for both parties: Adobe would still retain the copyright, but (the "as is" clause) not have any other obligation -- and the BSD license is great for users too, because it´s much less restrictive than the original ADDT license.
The problem with code ignitor is that you need to know how to write code. If you know how to write code then you can just do it in DReamweaver. ADDT helped those that don't know how to write code or what can be written with code. Hi there are some alternativ solutions for dreamweaver users, webassist is one, their products cover à lot of what ADDT can do, but it is not as complete and some time in a less integrated maner. Their solutions are more Front Office oriented ( really good design extension). ADDT is the best for Back Office.

I hear a lot of this 'learn PHP' as though it was our fault for using such a time saving tool in a competitive business environment. With this same analogy, should we all learn Postscript so that we can 'hand craft' our PDF's and EPS files? I think that this may take some time. Yes, people did used to use cut 'n' paste the old fashioned way when laying out artwork. When a computer took over this...
Well you will also be glad to know that the new ExpressionEngine CMS is being entirely rewritten using CodeIgniter. So IMHO its only going to get better and better. I did have a look at a few frameworks. While there have their good points, their learning curve was a bit too much for me. CodeIgniter has that much easier learning curve attached to it and coupled with Aptana Studio, I am certainly enjoying handcoding again
I think that's a fair summation. Anyone starting major development with ADDT now needs their head read. CMS have replaced tools like ADDT because ADDT is too complex, and too vulnerable to hacking. Dreamweaver's future must also be questionable for similar reasons? Losing ADDT is a major pain for those of us with major projects written with it.
I know how to write code, but I don't want to. I am small operation and ADDT allows me to do things in a fraction of the time. Time is money. Still, now that I know ADDT will work with CS4 I am not as frustrated about it. I will check out the competing product and play around with it. I began with InterAKT's products and continued on with the toolbox, so I began with a non-Adobe product, I am certainly not averse to going...
