Started 1 year, 6 months ago by RandyB.
This new build will complete my "Tri-five" series which I started a while back, This kit is out of production now but I do believe this was the re-tooled AMT kit. I was able to get one off of good old ebay. I painted this model about a month ago in MCW factory colours India Ivory & Tropical Turquoise. Interior has matching Turquoise with Black trim on the seats as was available according to this...

Looks great, Randy! Are you gonna black-wash the dash insert! it's actually little black squares on the aluminum but I normally just wash it to give it that effect. Good luck it's looking good so far. I am going to post my tri-five this morning since I have just finished the 56.

Sweet! Space Cowboy just finished a Revell Snapper in this same color combo (or something reasonably close) and it was a darn nice looking model! In fact, it sent me out in search of that kit to do one myself (no joy so far, though).

Sweet looking '57 Randy! It doesn't matter how many times I see one with that shade of turquoise, it still looks great! And I envy you guys to no end for being able to buy those factory colors from MCW, too. Can't get 'em here. If I want an exact match I gotta go to the body shop and pay $25 a can for acrylic enamel. I'm looking forward to seeing this done . . . and then some!...

Nice , I always enjoy seeing that color combination . looking to see the completed build . Not to steal your thread.. Does Testors offed that color ? How about Duplicolor ? I know how it is not to be able to get replica colors . Oh yes , I can get them from MCW... I have to pay an extra Shipping Charge due to living in the (Rural) 'Sticks' . HOC do replicas ? I don't believe Dave has this market...

Looking great Randy! What do you think of this kit so far? I liked it so much I've got 6 unbuilt in my stash! I like the color you chose for it as well ! Keep up the great work!

dimaxion: Does Testors offed that color ? How about Duplicolor ? Thanks dimaxion. As a matter of fact, Model Master has Tropical Turquoise available in the rattle can in a lacquer base.

Thanks plumber. So far I'm impressed with the detail of this kit right down to including ignition wires with the kit and a diagram on the wiring order of the ignition wires. I haven't glued ...

I live in Canada as well but I'm able to obtain the MCW paints because I live close to the US border and I was able to get a US mailing address. Dave Dodge ships to my US ...

I grew up seeing so many 57 Chevrolet's in 1.1 and small scale that eventually they became rather common place and well, boring. (No offense intended to anyone.) With that said...Randy, that is one beautiful and memorable 57 Belair build. The factory correct colors, clean assembly, and your usual attention to the details are exceptional. When I clicked on this topic and viewed the final photos, I simply thought,...

Wow Randy, absolutely incredible build!!! My hat is off to you. I plan on doing one similar (down the road), but it won't be quite the level of detail that you put into yours! On a weekend camping trip a 2 or 3 weeks ago, I ran across a 1:1 '57 Chevy that sat beside the road for sale. It was almost the spitting image of your model. I couldn't believe it! With the exception of the color tint, I would say they were exactly alike....
