I don't believe his eyes. But really, this is awesome, can't wait to see specs.

We've known about the date for about a month now, though I'm not expecting a hard launch until the end of September. Card/Specific Chip code names seem to be Hemlock, Redwood, Cedar, Juniper, and Cypress and then there is the Trillian rumor.

lakerboy replied 4 months ago
probably be a couple weeks until real availability.

EvilGeneus replied 4 months ago
then we can all reinstall Crysis to test out the card

H3RO replied 4 months ago
Awesome, can't wait to get one. Hopefully I won't have to spend more than $300.

Might get one depending on the price.

The people in Computer Building thread here persuaded me not to get another 4890. I'm glad they did.. If I had bought one and found out DX11 cards were this close to launch I would've been kicking myself in the butt!

http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1130/3/ Seems like the early reviews were bottlenecked by the drivers. Legitreviews re-reviewed NFS: Shift and with a alpha patched game and showed 7% increase in single GPU and 56% in Crossfire for a 5870, but the numbers grew when they also added the Beta drivers to +26%/+59% from the original (putting it above the GTX295).

the sentence before it though says their binning cypress chips for an XTX version. i think that will end up being the 5890. I really doubt we'll see a 32nm shrink. they're focusing on 28nm for their next round of chips and 32->28 is too small an increment to bother with. I think they're going to focus 32nm production to cpu's.
