Thread: ALL 03 OWNERS.... RECTIFIER/REGULATOR

ok so far the results have been bad. Not sure if i did something wrong. all i did was unplug the old rectifier and plug in the new one. is there something else i need to do? reset anything? i rode my bike to the gas station... filled it up... and then it wouldnt turn back on. after 5 minutes or so, the bike would finally light up in the "on" position, but then as soon as i hit the starter button... the entire bike shuts off...

I had a buddy come by with an amp meter and we tested the voltage to and from the rectifier, to and from the coil, and to and from the battery. Turns out my problem was with the battery. It takes some patience, but if you follow the troubleshooting steps in the manual, it will narrow it down to the problem your bike is having. Sorry I couldn't be more elaborate of the process. hate to burst any bubbles but i tried the new and improved heat sink and it doesnt do squat. similar to another members posting it might help disspate heat but the problem persists. im going to try a couple tests to see if it is indeed the temperature of the r/r that is the issue. will post again afterwards. till then i would NOT advise spending the $20 on the new heatsink ps. if anybody in the socal area has one of those temperature guns it...

I'm just going to buy a new one from an 06, this is really annoying. I can ride just fine, and start the engine up at lights, but if I sit in the lot for 10 minutes, it won't start. probably doesn't help my radiator fan isn't going

Good gracious I JUST got a new OEM battery in April, and I NEVER use the brights. Now I believe my battery is dead AGAIN. I commute on the bike so the heat in traffic might be causing this...I just read about that R1 r/r upgrade, I may look into that. I'm @ the office right now, and it started bogging on me (I posted about this exact situation back in March/April), I'm lead to suspect that it's a dying battery. :( As soon as I...
