Project:
'93 Isuzu Amigo
I bought this thing so I could build and wheel my F-250, but I couldn't
seem to keep this little freak on the road, so after beating the crap out
of it at the 'Con, I decided to SA it. So, out came the IFS, and in with an
'83 Toy front end.
'83 Toyota front axle
Marlin high steer kit
Stock Toy rears in the front
Stock Amigo rears in the rear, AAL and blocks until I can ...

Had to chop the crap out of the fender as it was torn right on the crease,
so I figured cut out the rust... but it looks pretty funky
And it STILL rubs
It's saggin a bit cuz it's loaded down with tires, tools, and luggage
if you move the axle forward and have some problems w/ the steering, you
could put a scout box on it. has the pitman in the front and probably is
stronger and has better turning radius. I'm collecting things for my
buddy's 98 migo and we found a scout in the junkyard so this is probably
what we'll be using.
Thank you I appreciate the info. Keep me posted on how that goes! One of
the issues right now is that if I move the steering box forward it hits the
radiator, so I either have to find a new steering box that i can make work
without movin forward, or build some new radiator mounting brackets....
Can't see what's going on very well with your steering linkage, but you
should have room to move the axle forward at least a few inches without
moving the steering box. BTDT.
I have some old pics of my setup here:

This one shows steering alignment, with a minor axle shift forward and
stock steering box location:

I see the difference between your steering and mine Randii. We're using
different steering arms. Yours puts the tierod under the leafs and the
draglink above, mine has both above the leafs...

Yeah, I saw that... you have hi-steer, which certainly has some advantages
(protecting the tie rod) but is harder to package. You could have your
steering arms re-...
she would need a forward facing pitman arm with the box to go with it.
there is no other safe way to move the axle forward with her steering. she
can not put the tie rods on the botom of the arms, they will definatley hit
the springs. the axle is as far forward as possible with her setup. I was
willing to let her take a toy ifs box and buy me another to put her box
outside the frame, and move the...

Thanks Steve for the pics and info! I don't seem to have a problem at the knuckle..... yet. Very helpful! It feels like my second box is going out already, so when the time comes, I'll have to figure out a different box that will more suit my setup.... we'll see 8S, shocks will come soon, I just gotta find someone to bend up my hoops for me so I can get em on
Catching up... I haven't looked in here in a while! Quote: Originally Posted by Lil Uzzi We will meet up with Randii and we wwill wheel the Con !!! Hiking wasn't enough? I think the amigo pitman was quite a bit shorter in lenght than the toyota. I thought about the cutiing out the part of the arm that splines on the septor shaft, the way they do it on cruiser for saginaw p/s. but the arm to be easy would be flat, and hit the frame, and also would move her draglink to a higher angle and cause bumpsteer, then more room would have to be takin with a panhard. I am going to try and find her another toyota box and...
