Hi,
I might have too stay a night on Frankfurt Hahn airport. Did anybody do the same?? Impressions? Is there anything to do in the surroundings??? Any hostels nearby?
Thanx a lot,
Bruno
I used to live not far from here many years ago, back when Hahn was a U.S. air base. It was a very sleepy area, with not a huge amount to do. The nearest town of note (besides Traben-Trarbach down in the valley) was Irmenach, which had a small Gasthaus (B&B).
Obviously, the arrival of the airport has changed things considerably. A Google search will yield quite a few hotel options near ...
Do you want a hostel or to spend the night in the airport?
According to this site Hahn Frankfurt airport is:

Good place to sleep, there is not any comfortable seating, but the temperature is right, security don't bother anyone, no announcements, airport is open all night long, there is hot-dog stand in the front of a terminal open 24...
SAW AN ADVERT FOR A REALLY CHEAP VACATION RENTAL APARTMENT IN THE 3RD. THE ADDRESS IS ON RUE DE VERTBOIS, SUPPOSEDLY VERY CLOSE TO THE FAMOUS CHEZ L"AMI LOUIS RESTAURANT. HOW IS THIS NEIGHBORHOOD?? ADVERT SAYS A MONOPRIX IS RIGHT NEXT DOOR, AND THE METRO IS FAIRLY CLOSE BY, BUT IS THE NEIGHBORHOOD FAIRLY DECENT? THE PRICE ON THIS APARTMENT SEEMS TO BE TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE....THANKS FOR ANY ...
Seems OK. It is a short distance from the Place de la Republique, where there is a hotel of the Crowne Plaza chain. I don't think they would be running a hotel in a low-level neighborhood.
> Due to urgent security checks the S-Bahn services are limited.
Less frequent trains than normal. Shorter trains than normal.
Till October the situation will improve however as there are steadily coming more trains back into service from their security checks.
But it never harms to check your travel plans close to the time of travel. There are e.g. works at Ostkreuz station.
BVG ...
Due to extreme climatic changes the World is experiencing at the moment, trying to predict the weather can be difficult because of local, on the day variations.
Most places now are seeing weather conditions well outside the norm.
The information below should be used as a guide only.
Here is the average weather for Funchal for this time of year.
Enjoy your holiday.

Hi
The Hotel San Giorgio - http://www.sangiorgiohotel.biz/en/index.htm - gets good reviews. And to quote one reviewer - "Be advised that the hotel is walking distance not only to the train station, but to the entrance gate of the cruise terminal/Port of Civitavecchia."
I've read several posts here suggesting that a smaller car is preferable for the narrower roads of various Italian towns. There are four of us planning to drive around Tuscany and we'll obviously have luggage with us at least some of the time. I had assumed that we would need a larger vehicle...perhaps even a station wagon. Is this going to be a significant problem...or simply a little ...
Yes, there are. Venere also lists b&bs, by the way (but they are not generally a cheaper option than hotels). I far prefer the reviews on venere because you can only write one if you have actually stayed at the hotel (they email you afterwards). Same with boooking.com On Tripadvisor anyone can write a review, and many have an alternative agenda. Best advice with all online reviews is to totally ignore the very best and the very worst,...
you meant Marseille as the city in south France. You can get to the Camargue area, but never done in public transport, only by car. Nice is a nice transport hub in the region so i am sure there is transport, you can inquiry at the Nice train station http://www.ter-sncf.com/Regions/paca/Fr/Se_deplace r_en_TER/Avant_mon_voyage/Recherche_d_itineraires/Default.aspx copy and paste to your browser for all the info. you will see the pink flamingos...
i would assume that with using all the transportation to get to town, it would be at least 10-20 euros more daily, so better use the money on a more central hotel.
We have done short city breaks all ways - totally independently, booking flights/Eurostar and hotels after doing all the research online ourselves. And by booking through companies like - www.vhbholidays.co.uk Riviera Travel - sorry do not have web site details to hand. On a "package" we never felt herded and had plenty of free time to do our own thing; when we chose to take an included tour we had first class guides. Even...
Try the Hotel St George on Parnell Square (just off the main O'Connell St). I stayed there last year and it was excellent value for money. At the moment www.booking.com has a 2-night special price on your dates of 128 Euros, incuding breakfast. That's as cheap as you'll get for a half-decent central Dublin hotel.
While the advance tickets do not sell out (unless the route requires a booked seat e.g. Newark to London), the ticket only gives you a ticket to ride (as it were), not a seat! However, I doubt if you will have to stand, unless you are unlucky and/or travel on a holiday.
Certainly the hotel Selva Candida may suit a couple wanting a quiet base on the outskirts of Rome but it would not be at all suitable if you wanted to see the sights. best to maybe look for a good value hotel (or apartment as you will be in Rome for 6 nights) more central - perhaps around the Termini area which is where you can arrive into Rome using the train. if you can stretch your budget a little then sure you can find a suitable place...
I used to live about 3 miles south of this hotel - it's surprising how quickly Rome goes from urban to almost countryside in short order, with little oases of habitations. The hotel is just south of the little area of Selva Candida (hence the name) outside the GRA or ringroad. There is actually bus service close to the hotel (200 meters or so). The 904 goes into the direction of the Largo Boccea area (also called Circonvallazione...
