Been a long time since this comic's been talked about. This has been the first really funny comic in a while. Somehow the shpeal about his friends setting a trap for the fiends that's obviously not true is sent from mildly funny to absolutely hilarious when he does this all with the flaming carcass of red mage on his head. Violence = funny? Maybe, but who cares :D
I thought the one before it was funnier to be honest. I'm still trying to
figure out why it's as dragged out as it it to be honest (the comic would
have been better off ending about 200 strips ago, which it could have done
without the long-winded tangents).
Personally, I don't think much has changed between now, 200 strips ago, 400 strips ago or 700 strips ago. The comic did evolve a bit in its early days - graphically mostly, and characters shifted their focus a bit (Black Mage went from evil first, failure second to failure first, evil second - which is actually quite impressive, because he is at least just as evil as he always was, and Red Mage's...
I used to love 8-Bit Theater, but now it's become a bit dragged and
stagnant. The sheer absurdity of the events is still funny, but how long
can you drag the series of completely and utterly idiotic hijinks? That
said, the comic is still a great parody of the cliched fantasy tales - it's
plot is basically what happens if the heroic Light Warriors destined to
save the world are stupid, evil and ...
yeah it's true the last couple (hundred) comics have been pretty bad, but I don't really blame the author on this. He made a comic where the main characters aren't supposed to be evolve or get better, and the jokes more or less always would be the same type. It's just this gets old eventually and he should've seen this. He could've shaved at least an entire 70 comics off temple of fiends and ...
I think anyone who complains about the comic's "plot" is completely missing the point* . It's more like a gag-a-day comic with continuity, and while there is a plot, it's not the most important or valuable thing about the comic at all.
So, yeah, I just like the way Brian Clevinger writes dialogue and how everyone is a moron and it makes me laugh, and this comic successfully delivered what I...
I don't see why it's missing the point to critique the plot of 8-bit Theater. If it has a plot - and it does - then it's part of the experience of the comic. It's like critiquing the art of xkcd. It's missing the point to say "OMG they're just stick figures", but it's fair to point out where something within that stick figure style fails to convey what it means. Hard for me to think of an example...
OK:
A) The Red Mage Firehat* is awesome, as is the Fiends actually beliving Fighter's delusions.
But
B) c'mon guys, it's all about Warbot in Accounting these days.
*BM should've made it into a Red Mage Fire Knifehat. +2.

Warbot is awesome. Why, I have no idea. I...
I'm still trying to figure out why Red Mage died/passed out before he was
set on fire. I also agree with Trazoi about the jokes and how they are ust
being repeated endlessly. By the way, the Other Warriors were Ranger,
Cleric, Rogue and Berserker.
I really like the strip. Since my friend showed it to me and I read through all the archives, laughing out at most of them - I don't know, it's just my type of humor I guess. That means, even if the jokes have the same basis (stupid, evil etc.) I STILL regard most of them as really funny, which makes it one of my favourites . Those contrived parts of dialogue just popping out in mid-comic and ...
I'm not sure I can take this 16-bit monstrous head on the 8-bit regular wizard body seriously for much longer. Also, I'm a bit disappointed. I can't help but think that Chaos actually accepting Black Mage's services would have been more interesting.

What if there was a flashback to the beginning, to try to remember how to...
Fighter isn't hurt because there are very few weapons in the original Final Fantasy that even an unpromoted Fighter can't use. Bane Sword, Defense, Katana (Ninja-only), Vorpal, and Xcaliber namely for swords... http://www.cavesofnarshe.com/ff1/wea...;ff1nesmode=on for reference if you want. Then again, considering the title of the comic, its possible they burn evil bastads like RM, Thief, and especially BM

Re: 8-bit theatre I'm hoping that is what happens, Ganurath. On the bright side, I really didn't expect that to happen in the comic. __________________ "It doesn't matter what you think I'm supposed to be, 'cause I myself know all too well."
