Thread: 8.8 rear end conversion axle measurements

Started 1 month, 3 weeks ago by UrbanSoot
Can someone please take dimensions of axles in your 8.8" IRS rear end conversion? I'm looking at different options for making custom axles that would be cheaper then BF and V8R axles since I know that it can be done for under $700 for "stage 2" axles and I don't quiet have $1700 to spend on BF and V8R axles...

Unfortunately, I can't answer your question, but I was faced with same problem. The only Miata part in my install is the evaporator under the dash. I took the hard lines that attach to it to a local AC specialist looking for the fittings so I could use custom hoses, similar to what you suggest, and the guy said "just let us put hoses on your hard lines" so I did!! So the short story is that the ...

I used all of the factory Miata stuff with a Ford compressor. I made new rubber hoses from the factory Miata high & low side lines to the compressor & installed the Ford compressor ends. I was able to use the Miata dryer & the lines going to it. I relocated it to the lower passenger side of the radiator mounting bracket. I modified the factory mounting bracket & attached it to the radiator mount ...

Hi Guys. This is my first post on here but I've been reading this forum regularly since I bought my Miata last June. I started the monster project this spring and I have made some progress: Anyway I am nearing the point to put the transmission in so I have to stop procrastinating about the damage to the frame rails under the car. Here is a couple pictures of what I'm talking ...

Align the bottom spindle hole and the bottom caliper hole and the bracket with a through bolt. The other end of the plate bolts directly to the upper spindle hole and extends to the upper caliper hole. Quick sloppy doodle: Black spindle, green caliper, blue plate, red threads. Ls1tech is the old ls1.com, and the LS7 clutch is good as long as you don't do a lot of racing. It is very inconsistent, even in stock Z's (Look up Ranger on Corvetteforum)

I wouldn't bother with the book for your goals/budget. Just get an LS6 intake, a 224 or 228 cam, valvesprings, ported throttle body and a tune and be done with it. With that simple setup a mail order tune would suffice. Frank

If you can find a set of 243 casting LS6 heads, that would give you a bump in compression, power, and torque

We're using factory GM mounts now. Solid, very reliable. Some smart guys put a lot of work into the factory accessories, so it makes sense to take advantage of it. It took us a fair bit of work to keep the Miata pump from tossing belts on a custom bracket. Pain in the butt. The GM pump works just fine with the Miata racks, and it ends up being a better solution overall. If you have an NA, you'll want that extra clearance for your...
