Thread: 854 boot locked

Started 1 month, 3 weeks ago by Pliskin
Hi all, Does anyone know if the boot on an 854 can be opened from the inside. The reason I ask is after unloading half the contents of Tescos, Mrs Pliskin closed the boot, but in doing so trapped a bungee cord between the catcher plate and lock. Unfortunately know the boot won't unlock either from the fob or key. I can get into the boot via the rear seats, but can't get the bungee cord...

have you tried cutting away at bungee cord? are any of the bolts accessible with boot closed? would getting someone to hold handle and trying to open, whilst you put pry bar/large screw driver either side of latch, to assist its opening? atleast its a decent sized boot

Yes getting into the boot via the rear seats, isn't a problem, except for my 6'2" 17stone frame, it's what to do with the locking mechanism when I do get in. The cord is firmly wedge and if I cut it it will still be stuck in the lock. I will have another crack it at this morning, wish me luck.

hi, could you access the latch/(chord) from inside by dropping the rear seats flat and squeezing through? hth

Job done, many thanks to Cookie for the screwdriver in the mechanism suggestion, worked a treat.
