Thread: 7 lbs @ 35 weeks!

Started 1 month, 1 week ago by Willow ~ Maeve

Willow, most places say the major weight gain (the 1/2 lb a week) occurs during the 30-35 wks marks (some say a little later), then slows down until delivery... but again, it is all averages and every babe is different.

Here some stats from various sources: For one in four women, however, the fetal weight estimation was more than 10% different from the actual birth weight of their infant. Ultrasound measurements had a tendency to overestimate the weight of small infants while underestimating the weight of both large infants and the infants of diabetic mothers. Depends... they estimate a third of a pound a week in the last month. But that's an average, some are more, some are less.... BUT the u/s weights are not 100% either.

i was sent for an ultra sound by one of the other doctor's at my ob's practice when i was 31 weeks.  when my dr saw the results she said he was in a high percentile, an estimated 5.5 lbs, but i shouldn't worry because ultra sounds can be off by a pound or two.  i am now 37 weeks, and he is still measuring big, but my dr says there is nothing to be concerned about.  hang in there, i'm sure your ...

Willow, it can be off by at least a pound in either direction. It can also be tech dependent....I have had 2 different people scan me on the same day and they differed by over half a pound... I wouldn't worry too much. Also, as other people have said, she could have just had a big growth spurt and you happened to get measured right after that... I am 37 weeks and mine is measuring 7lb 5...so I ...

Thanks so much all.  Turtle I'm sorry about the IUGR...I'll pray for Ashlyn to grow to be chunky like Audri very soon!

I thought it was a half a pound to a pound per week at the end?
