My car went into I status on the 13th, and no movement since then. Shouldn't there be some other status levels before it gets shipped? Is there a hold on the 6-speeds?

Well, right after I checked VinWin at 9:05 am this morning, my dealer cals and tells me he is looking right at it. I almost drove by the dealership this morning, but would have been late to work.
I told him I was pre-approved for 60 months at 5%.

The part I found interesting (in a bad sort of way) was that they commented that the TR-6060 we're getting in our 6-speed challengers is designed to handle "at least 450 foot pounds" of torque. Also an approximate angle of the threads when in neutral.

Drove to dealer with my LS1 GTO and drove out with the Challenger.
My initial thoughte where, god this car is huge! From a seat of the pants standpoint the LS1 has more grunt and sounds deeper and throatier.
The hemi has a nice burble but is higher pitched. Clutch is light and crisp,

The 6 speed SRT is where it is at, the exhaust is way better, the power feels more responsive, and the gas mileage is great. The exhaust is so much better that i may not even change it, and thats coming from a guy that owned a 550hp charger with cat deletes, cam, heads, and long tubes. Its almost perfect, IMO.

I have a black RT 6spd with 1500 miles and when the weather is cold it takes a while for the tranny to warm up. 2nd and 3rd gears are difficult to shift into, kind of rough. Once warmed up the shifts are very easy (about 10-15minutes). Any ideas?

that you have to shift out of 1st really fast. From a stop feels like u go

This is for owners of 6 speed manual transmissions only.
Some have complained of a raspy or clunking or gnashing sensation when shifting 1-2 or 2-3. Let's see if we can get some sense of how prevalent it is - if you have had two or more incidents of grinding or clunk or raspiness, pick the third option (sorry for not getting number in there, and now I can't edit the poll)

Most of you 6-Speed owners may already know this, but these cars easily move from stop to rolling with no applied throttle. It's really useful during go and stop driving. I think it saves on the clutch a little too. I don't do it much. But it some circumstances, it's really useful.

When it is cold outside and the transmission isn't warmed up yet it is hard to get into second sometimes. It's like it almost grinds when I try to shift, but it shifts fine when the fluid gets warm. Is this normal or could it be a problem with the tranny?

I have a 2009 R/T 6 speed with about 15000 miles. My tranny has been whining in first and sometimes second gear. Its only on occasion and doesn't happen every time I take off from a stop. It sounds like a little car does when its going too fast in reverse. I first noticed it going around a corner. Anyone have any idea what this is? Do I need to get it to the dealer ASAP?

exactly, but its not only that. They want like $15k for that engine, you can stroke your 6.1 out to a 6.4 for about $8-9k

If they do bring out the 6.4 as an option, it would be for all SRT's most likely, not just the Challenger...Bee's, Plum Crazy's, Jeeps, 300's....but my gut feeling still tells me it will just be a crate engine. While I would love to see the 6.4, which can't cost a lot more than the 6.1, I would also like a Twin Turbo System....that I would pay for! Resume Speed needs to say something here...he ...

Im ordering a 09 SRT8 today or in the next few. Like lots of us I really want the 6.4,,, but the rumor was for 2010,, maybe. Now I heard on another board that for 09 there MAY be a limited run of the 6.4! It was just one unsubstantiated blurb but is there any fans here who have heard ANYTHING about the 6.4???

Get the 09 when you can....Chrysler, Ford and GM are all meeting with their UAW reps to hammer out more cuts, displacements, and probably killing off some plants, and vehicles, and increasing others....hence, large and gas hogs are slowly dying, small is selling. If you want it and can get it, get it now. Forget about the 6.4. Doubt is will ever be an option, but will remain a crate engine......

i agree, at this point it doesn't appear as a practical option. There is no doubt that the engine is in development, but i cannot see chrysler coming out with a model to go over the SRT's. That is their bread and butter model. That is just my opinion, but i would say that will likely be the case. Get the car now and dont look back.
