My car went into I status on the 13th, and no movement since then. Shouldn't there be some other status levels before it gets shipped? Is there a hold on the 6-speeds?
Well, right after I checked VinWin at 9:05 am this morning, my dealer cals and tells me he is looking right at it. I almost drove by the dealership this morning, but would have been late to work.
I told him I was pre-approved for 60 months at 5%.
Through me, my credit union and my dealer countered and recountered until I landed at 4.29%, 10 dollars a month less.
My credit union ...

This is straight from the SRT Engineer Chat Session last night.
The part I found interesting (in a bad sort of way) was that they commented that the TR-6060 we're getting in our 6-speed challengers is designed to handle "at least 450 foot pounds" of torque. Considering the SRT8 already makes 420 foot pounds of torque stock... and it seems the tranny will be one of the first bottlenecks we ...
Just wondering if anyone has had their shifter off yet.
I need the size and length of the threads and the pitch.
Also an approximate angle of the threads when in neutral.
I have an original pistol grip out of a 'Cuda and want to make my own shifter since no one out there is taking care of it fast enough.
Thanks
Check out the movement today (Wednesday). Every one
has been a Manual car. Way to go Brampton! Looks like
the half-shaft problem has been solved. Has anyone noticed
that everyone that has received their car has raved about it.
Our thanks to Brampton Builder and his colleagues. Can't wait
to get mine!
As some would say here in Texas "Head-em up and move-em out".
These last few days have truly been something else. Let me tell ya’ll about it. Sit back and grab a beer.
Ok so Saturday morning I get the 7 grand check in the mail from the person I sold my car to. She got a loan through her credit union and they sent me a nice certified check. So it’s about 3 p.m. and I have a lovely idea to go up to a few of my local dodge dealers only to do some early...
Drove to dealer with my LS1 GTO and drove out with the Challenger.
My initial thoughte where, god this car is huge! From a seat of the pants standpoint the LS1 has more grunt and sounds deeper and throatier.
The hemi has a nice burble but is higher pitched. Clutch is light and crisp,
however the shifter is a bit notchy. The driveline has less vibration than the
GTO. As far as the ...
The 6 speed SRT is where it is at, the exhaust is way better, the power feels more responsive, and the gas mileage is great. The exhaust is so much better that i may not even change it, and thats coming from a guy that owned a 550hp charger with cat deletes, cam, heads, and long tubes. Its almost perfect, IMO.
The whole process went very well. I flew into Pittsburg International Airport, ...
I was talking to one of the guys at the Mopar performance hot line today.
Had some questions about an oil pan they have listed for the 426 Hemi. Just
casually asked him about the possibility of the new Challenger getting the
6.4 Hemi and he said not to rule it out because he was told they are going
to start printing shop manuals for that engine------oh yeh!
First off i want to say I love this car. I've got the 09 black SRT8 with all available options. Coming from an 05 M3 i'm still very impressed. Being a military man the best way to for me to compare the two would be like comparing the M24 7.62mm sniper round to a M1A2 120mm tank round ( i've fired both). The BMW was small, agile, very fast and precise. While the Challenger ...
My 6speed has arrived...i drove it at the dealership..I haven't taken delivery yet,we are still negotiating over the trade in of my 08 srt8 challenger..hopefully we can come to an agreement tomorrow morning..anyway the 6 speed fun factor is about X2 the automatic car..
I have a black RT 6spd with 1500 miles and when the weather is cold it takes a while for the tranny to warm up. 2nd and 3rd gears are difficult to shift into, kind of rough. Once warmed up the shifts are very easy (about 10-15minutes). Any ideas?
Following this situation: " Noooo.... not really.
Five months - 5days - 22hrs. That is how long I waited for my baby to get here. Being a very protective father I made some reasonable demands on how she was to be treated before I took delivery today.
No front license plate - No gas - No stickers or badges and DO NOT go over 6miles. All criteria was met without exception in fact it ...
As some of you know, I posted about having a transmission issue back at the beginning of November. Finally had the transmission have enough of an issue over the weekend to take to the dealer today.
I posted about the transmission problem I had back on October 31st. It's been really stiff into 2nd and 3rd since then and Dodge wasn't willing to resolve anything on the 2nd visit. I was told back...
Does anyone take off in 2nd gear instead of 1st? With 3.92 gears it seems
that you have to shift out of 1st really fast. From a stop feels like u go
30' or so before u have to grab 2nd? I've tried it and it works for me.
Never tried to launch hard in 2nd yet!!! Just curious.
I ordered a SRT Challenger on 30 JAN 09. Can anyone tell me if these problems & others will be sorted out by the time my car is built? Why want the SRT folks send us info about this? thank you'll.
This is the 1st manual I've ever owned, and I probably have a life-time experience of roughly 1 hour using a manual before saleman who sold me the car gave me some lessons for a few hours. I have some common sense and technical knowledge, but still have a few questions. Would someone kindly offer me up some advice, dos/don'ts, in addition to some responses to the Qs below? I would really ...
Well, after receiving loads of quality advice from many members on how to drive stick, I'm going to start a 'blog' (if you will; my first one, even!) of my adventures (or misadventures, as it were) of life with a 6-speed. I mostly plan on using this as a way for me to look back on the early days of driving a manual with little skill up until the point where I can write: "I got into the car, drove...
I'm currently working on getting an SRT and I've been debating colors and transmissions for months. I've finally decided I'd be happy with any color as long as it has the other options I'm looking for. The transmission is another story. It seems everyone here loves the 6 speed and most wouldn't have bought the car if it didn't have a manual. I have been driving manuals most of my life and I'm ...
I'm new to the Forum and thought I would bring this up. I know it's probably been kicked around before but I'd like some feedback from owners of both Automatics and 6 speeds.
Does anyone have any regrets with their choice of transmission? Aside from the obvious differences of having to manually shift the stick, what (if any) drawbacks are there to owning and driving the manual? Has anyone ...
Im having two different problems that may or may not be related. Wanted to get some insight.
My first issues is that shortly after getting the car I noticed that it seemed when shifting into 3rd gear there was a slight catch right as it went into gear. Now I have started noticing this when shifting into 2nd. I can't really tell if its suppose to do it or not. I think not because if when I...
This is for owners of 6 speed manual transmissions only.
Some have complained of a raspy or clunking or gnashing sensation when shifting 1-2 or 2-3. Let's see if we can get some sense of how prevalent it is - if you have had two or more incidents of grinding or clunk or raspiness, pick the third option (sorry for not getting number in there, and now I can't edit the poll)
I've seen were a auto srt8 went 170mph on dodge test drive on the speed
channel but has anyone ever tested a 6spd srt8 with the limitor removed ? i
bet the car would do 180+.
I had a thought that since most 6 speed owners are so adamant about being in complete control of your car at all times that most of you would have your cruise control disabled by now.
You guys don't want an automatic shifting gears for you more efficiently then you can do yourselves so I thought that you wouldn't want some computer keeping you at one speed when you could do it yourself thus ...
Most of you 6-Speed owners may already know this, but these cars easily move from stop to rolling with no applied throttle. It's really useful during go and stop driving. I think it saves on the clutch a little too. I don't do it much. But it some circumstances, it's really useful.
These HEMI's are amazing!
Well I have a black SRT , my wife has an SXT, we have 3 of 1:24 scale die casts , and now this 1:18 scale "highway 61 collectibles". It's really cool. It has a lot of detail. Just some fun.
Bob
I have been noticing something a bit unusual while downshifting my 6 speed RT and wonder if anyone else has experienced the same thing. When going from 4th to 2nd, there seems to be a bit of a hesitation when trying to get the shifter into 2nd gear which is accompanied by a very low/subtle higher pitched noise as well as a hint of vibration. This is all with the clutch engaged, there are no ...
I know I saw a post on here and the Charger forum about the 6.4L being an option this year.
I have searched, but can not find the threads. Can anyone confirm that the 2010 will (at some point) be offered with the 6.4L Hemi?
After driving the Challenger at the SRT Track Experience at MIS last weekend, I think I want to buy one. However, if I buy one I will give the Jeep to my wife and my ...
So you want a 6.4 liter? Would you settle for a 6.7 instead? WTF is this car all about? Not cheap but talk about cubes, never mind HP!
New Dodge Challenger, Miami, FL, Coupe, Potamkin's Planet Dodge Chrysler Jeep Stock:
So the day came, 9-3-9 my wedding day and for my gift on 9-4-9 me and my lovely bride drove to our local Dodge dealership and ordered my 2010 Deep Water Blue R/t jpkg. with sunroof and sound pack 2. My dealer told me it should be in within 6-8 weeks. 8 weeks puts me at the 30th of October. My question is this, with the boys in Ontario back to work and things up and running what are the chances...
Not sure if this has been asked before, but... Are our hemi's (5.7 or 6.1)
E85 compatable? Is there any issue with running E85 fuel? Is it safe to run
E85 in our motors?
When it is cold outside and the transmission isn't warmed up yet it is hard to get into second sometimes. It's like it almost grinds when I try to shift, but it shifts fine when the fluid gets warm. Is this normal or could it be a problem with the tranny?
Well, tonight took the car out ,stereo was off for a change ,have noticed a noise in 1st and second slow speeds . had the car at a stop ,clutch out in neutral very distinct brg noise, clutch in and noise gone .hard to distinguish could be either the t/o brg or input shaft. This is first time it might have to go in to a dealer, but only if its under warranty, otherwise I will do it myself and ...
Hey all, I'm in need of a little info. Does anyone know if the stock airbox on a 2006 6.1L Superbee charger is the same as those on the 6.1L 2009 challenger? I'm looking at making some changes to my 5.7 and a modified 6.1 intake is part of it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
So has anyone changed there fluid in their 6 speeds out there? What kind
did you use?, did it make any difference? any reason why you changed it in
the first place? (grinding, notchy,etc)
I've been watching the live feed from Chrysler. While not stated in so many words. These two graphs show that the 6.1 will be ending and a 6.4 will be in the near future with 450+ HP.

wheels.com is listing the following info for the Challengers on the 6-speed manuals: https://www.wheels.com/fleet/referen...mbly_lines. asp )
"Transmission, 6-Speed Manual TREMEC (DEC) with Super Track Pack ( AWD ) is on hold until 11/30/09."
Does anyone know if this is the same tranny that will be used in the DYs?
Hey group,
When shifting from first to second and second to third its like i get a little grind but no noise just feel it..
I think its just an adjustment.. wonder if I can do it or should I take to a dealer..
I bet its an easy fix.
OK I only have 250 miles on my SRT 6spd and when driving last Saturday I
had issues with going from first to second. This was at normal speed stop
light to stop light. When I would go from first to second it would not go
to secound, like I was hitting between 2nd and 4th. I had to pull hard to
get it to go. This is not my first manual almost all my cars and trucks
where. Anyone else have this ...
I have a 2009 R/T 6 speed with about 15000 miles. My tranny has been whining in first and sometimes second gear. Its only on occasion and doesn't happen every time I take off from a stop. It sounds like a little car does when its going too fast in reverse. I first noticed it going around a corner. Anyone have any idea what this is? Do I need to get it to the dealer ASAP?

exactly, but its not only that. They want like $15k for that engine, you can stroke your 6.1 out to a 6.4 for about $8-9k

If they do bring out the 6.4 as an option, it would be for all SRT's most likely, not just the Challenger...Bee's, Plum Crazy's, Jeeps, 300's....but my gut feeling still tells me it will just be a crate engine. While I would love to see the 6.4, which can't cost a lot more than the 6.1, I would also like a Twin Turbo System....that I would pay for! Resume Speed needs to say something here...he ...
it was $51 under invoice, i put the contact info for the dealer on but it was removed. srry I didnt know I couldnt post anything like that and i got a warning for advertising! I was just tryin to help out.....anyway I dunno why they have the oddass #'s - srry again to the mods
Greetings all first post here.
Im ordering a 09 SRT8 today or in the next few. Like lots of us I really want the 6.4,,, but the rumor was for 2010,, maybe. Now I heard on another board that for 09 there MAY be a limited run of the 6.4! It was just one unsubstantiated blurb but is there any fans here who have heard ANYTHING about the 6.4???
Get the 09 when you can....Chrysler, Ford and GM are all meeting with their UAW reps to hammer out more cuts, displacements, and probably killing off some plants, and vehicles, and increasing others....hence, large and gas hogs are slowly dying, small is selling. If you want it and can get it, get it now. Forget about the 6.4. Doubt is will ever be an option, but will remain a crate engine......
i agree, at this point it doesn't appear as a practical option. There is no doubt that the engine is in development, but i cannot see chrysler coming out with a model to go over the SRT's. That is their bread and butter model. That is just my opinion, but i would say that will likely be the case. Get the car now and dont look back.
my grinding and notchiness went away at about 5k miles. its in the design, until the tremec is fully broken-in it will grind when cold. mine no longer grinds whatsoever. what i did when the problem was present was shift from 1-3 as the grinding into 3rd is not nearly as bad. once the tranny warmed up, you can continue to shift into second. i just think the tight tolerances and the fact that 2nd gear has three synchros really attributes to...

RESUME thanks for the post and support buddy! You are always dead on, sorry so many doubt you, it is the same as post on Alpar by un an un-named source, you guys have been dead on 90%+ of the time. PS I hope they will make the SRT Avenger with all wheel drive. I like the car, it is a min iscale charge, good little family car, just need all wheel in WY. I can't avoid making it grind for those first few shifts before the tranny warms up - no matter what I do. Just like others have said. But once it's...
These are not "wimpy" rides gents, the Challenger was made to be a bruiser, IMHO.... If I shift above 5000 Rpm the car just seems to just want more, shift smoothly & go like Hell, but if I treat it like a baby it gives me back the "notchiness" feel, less & less as the tranny & drive train wear in, but still some. Moral of the story, break her in nicely and every now & then let...
