I love me some Gwynnie P. She is brilliant in both those films though, it pains me not to nominate her for Sylvia , but her performance in Proof is too brilliant to ignore, her finest work to date. You weren't wrong Tom. You were just wrong about me.

It pains me when I have to nominate Gwyneth Paltrow, but I think she deserved nods for Sylvia and especially Proof. No matter that I despise the woman :) What's a rack? It's a country.

Well totally and completely disagree. I totally connect with Hoffman, but connections with characters are totally subjective. Maybe a rewatch could change things, rewatches always vary for me, they can change absolutely nothing or absolutely everything But I'm really surprised about Moreno. I adore her performance, I found her so natural and utterly convincing. My #2 that year behind Winslet. But to each their own....

Oh, you hate Jamie Foxx, but liked him in Ray? Well good for you. I'm sure you'll find plenty of people who can respect your opinion, even if you're incapable of doing the same for the those who found it a shallow, surface-deep imitation of Ray Charles. I'm astounded at the frequency with which stupid people hoist their mental ineptitude on others Hmm.

I don't mind subtle acting on the whole, and I know Harper Lee is known for being a very reserved woman, but I just think Keener's portrayal of her is very insipid and boring. She's much better in Into the Wild . As for Ange, it's obvious that role was one she desperately wanted given how much she loves children but I just feel she overdid it (although nowhere even NEAR as much as Spacek did ). Her work in Girl, Interrupted...

I'm with you. What did Murphy do that was so award worthy? His SAG win was really baffling. Six inches is perfectly adequate. More is vulgar.
