Ciaran Hinds has played a vast array of characters but there are a few and I mean few he has not played. I thought it would be fun or cool too list 3 roles he has not played yet; 3 of your favorite roles or characters he has done; 3 of your least favorite characters/ roles or 3 characters or roles you do not want too see him do. Preferrably it is 3 roles (he has already done or not done yet) ...
Just have fun :-)
Favourite characters : Julius Caesar (Rome), Abel Mason (The man Who Cried), Brian de Bois-Guilbert (Ivanhoe) but there are many others I'm fond of too.
Least favourite characters: Jonathan Reiss (Cradle of Life), Agent Fujima (Miami Vice), Henri Burke (Race To Witch Mountain) but it's mostly because I don't like these movies.
The characters I'd like to see him in: ...
I thought of other roles he has not played but are things I don't necessarily want to see him play:
1) A Klingon in Star Trek movies (actually I think he would make a good Klingon or Romulin. Ok I admit it I am a geek... there is not law against that...lol
2) A gay man
3) a woman.... Now before you all tell me he played Lady MacBeth when he was younger; I know that but it does not count....
I don't know anything about Star Trek movies but I can tell you that Ciaran did play gay men and even women on stage (gay characters in Martin Sherman's Bent and Liam Lynch's Krieg http://www.ciaranhinds.eu/play.php?cle=misc05 , and a woman in William Wycherly's The Country Wife http://www.ciaranhinds.eu/play.php?cle=glsgw02 . I hope he won't kill me if I say that I think these parts suited him...
I'm pleased to say, he's one very unattractive woman. :-))
Since "Krieg" was set in a mental hospital, maybe his character wasn't gay, but just in madness mistakes Malcolm Douglas' character for a woman! :-) ;-) But, seriously, do you know anything about Hinds' character in Krieg, sgriffon?
Well! I must say that I'd find him attractive even as a woman ;-) (the actor's talent I suppose).
Alas, all that I know about Ciaran Hinds' character in "Krieg" is what I've stored in my database. Not much.
BTW, another part I'd like to see him: Ramses II, in Anne Rice's "The Mummy". This book was written as a screenplay for a Hollywood movie but the project was never completed and it ...
I'd love to see him play Robert McCall in the remake of "The Equalizer". The remake has been in the works for a long time and I don't know if it will ever get made. But he would be perfect for the role. Equalizer is one of my all time favorite shows.

That would be cool! RamsesII ....make him look all decomposed and stuff.
What about a Jeckle/Hyde role... I know he was in Mary Reiley a Dr.Jeckeyl/Mr.Hyde but maybe he could play Dr.J/Mr.H
There is this book (ok romance novel...senceless mind candy) "Once and Only" by Judith McNaught and I thought Ciaran Hinds would be good as the father (forgot name) of character Jason Feilding. He ...
I hope he won't read me :-)) But if he has the appropriate paunch for the pregnant woman, he has not Batman's muscles!!!
Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde... Good idea. Or Frankenstein's monster. He did it on stage.
BTW Anne Rice's immortal Ramses was not decomposed but very handsome.
The paunch would look rather bad in the batman suit, I fear. LOL!
Honestly, I don't want CH to play any particular type of character (no more child abusers would be good, though!), much less things like batman, klingons, etc. Just good solid normal human being roles with personality and screen time would be nice.
A big Amen to the not dying part!!! I would also love to see him in a comedy; not a dark comedy; or a dramady; A good ol fashion make you laugh untill your sides hurt; rolling on the floor ; peeing your pants comedys (though it does not have to do all three as long as it makes you laugh).
For the Scottish brogue, see "The Life Of Stuff" (Simon Donald, 1997 http://www.ciaranhinds.eu/movie.php?cle=mov33 ), if you can get a copy. I think he have knack for accents.
Does "There Will Be Blood" count as a western? His mannerisms and garb were very "westernish". That being said, I thought he was underused in that film. He could have matched Daniel Day Lewis and Paul Dano in intensity, but didn't have much of a chance. One of my favorite actors though... Back to the game - imho his best roles were in "Mayor of Casterbridge";...

It is a pity you asked us to name only three favourite Ciarán Hinds characters! I go for Mr. Rochester in JANE EYRE, Captain Wentworth in PERSUASION, and Julius Caesar, the Son of Venus, in ROME. There are no least favourite parts among the ones he has played, everything Mr. Hinds does is impeccable. I only regret that sometimes (especially Holywood) productions underuse his immense talent with minor parts. In that respect I prefer...
"only" 3 favorite roles...yeesh!! why don't ya ask me to give up my first born? ha ha!! ok, julius caesar in rome; uh, capt wentworth in persuasion; and oh God! only 1 more...mr. rochester in jane eyre. least favorite roles...hmmm. the lost son obviously...although he was hot in it. hot but yucky. margot at the wedding...what was up with the licking of kidman's neck? so unsexy--which is hardly a word i would use to...
