Thread: 3 miles for a 7 year old?

Started 1 month, 2 weeks ago by Carrieraye123
I have signed my family up for the local Drumstick Dash on Thanksgiving morning. We will be doing the family walk. It's a 5K (3 miles). My son will be fine in the stroller do you think a 7 year old can go that far. The most we have done before is @2 miles in the summer with her. She did ok and it was kinda hilly, I am hoping this will be more flat. Would you take your 7 year old???

She can do it! Our then 2 year old walked down the natural entrance to Carlsbad Caverns last summer. He did a great job, actually. It's only 1 1/4 miles, but it is a steep, steep walk. We did 2 miles for some walk thing a few months ago. Our 6 and 7 yo were fine then too.

Okay good. I just registered today and then started thinking about it. I will go on and forewarn her that it will be long.

Oh yah! My (then) 3 and 5 year olds did several 3+ mile hikes this summer in Glacier. Chit chat, make it fun and they don't even notice the distance. Have fun!
