We will land in the morning of Nov.25 and leave in the evening on Nov.27. Our plan is to visit Universal Studio(It opens on Thanksgiving,right?), maybe take a city tour or star's home tour.
We are not planning to rent a car. So which area should we pick? Santa monica?or Hollywood? Which one is safer and easier to go around by public transportation?

If you can get the Renaissance Hollywood for around $160/Night, that would be quite a steal. Great Hotel in an excellent area, plus the Hotel is basically on top a subwaystation where you would only have to take one stop(on the subway) to get towards Universal Studios
