Thread: 213:1 mix on 2T

Started 2 months, 3 weeks ago by husky935
Recently one of our riding group accidentally failed to mix his 2T Kaw to the normal 42:1 ratio. Before we realized the mistake, he ended up running about 20 miles of off road on a calculated 213:1 ratio with no ill effects. I'm sure he didn't do the engine any good but the thing held up and compression feels the same as always. He ran the machine another 100 miles to complete the weekend ...

Just out of curiosity, how did he come to the realization after 20 miles that he'd made the mistake? Was it running different or?

wonder how that treated his bearings. I don't even like to use 50:1

KX02 replied 2 months, 3 weeks ago
Yes, he probably took some life out of his crank bearings. Interesting to know that it still runs fine.

I'm guessing there's problems right around the corner. I like Amsoil too. But it ain't that good.

After 20 miles I noticed he wasn't smoking and so I asked him if he added the oil to the new gas that was put in the tank. He gave me a blank look and said "no". We immediately dumped enough Amsoil to get the tank to around 40:1. Since I was leading and he was in the back of the pack I didn't notice he wasn't smoking. If the machine let's go in the next few rides, I'll let you guys know.

"He ran the machine another 100 miles to complete the weekend ride and it ran normal" On the same gas? you've got a brave riding buddy if so.

213:1 sounds like the ratio a guy I knew once ran in his YZ250... I saw him at a gas station after getting it and he said "with these two-strokes you gotta mix the gas and oil, I heard 3 capfuls works fine" and proceeds to dump 3 caps worth of oil into the full tank on his bike... Funny that I saw him riding his dad's XR600 after that fateful day.

Remove all Advertisements My buddy put another 7 hours of riding on this machine and it's still holding together. Still sounds good with good compression. I still can't believe he didn't fry it but so far so good. Several of us are using Dominator with excellent results.

Husky 125 has an autolube (oil injection)? My buddy that ran the 213:1 mix put another 80 miles on the bike this past weekend. That's almost 200 miles since the low mix incident. Engine is still together and running strong. I can't believe it. Can't really tell if a bearing is going since his kawasaki 200 normally make so much more engine noise than our Huskys. How much time will an engine have once a main bearing failure is...

i once used about 70:1 mix for about 30 miles on my husky 125 it ran ok and all but smoked like shit, now im back to using the auto lube system, but ever since theres been somewhat of a rattle coming from the engine and im not sure if its the crank bearing or the clutch basket rattling, when ticking over the engine will rattle but if you pull the clutch the rattle will go so i think its the clutch basket although i could be wrong?
