Thread: 2005 F350 XLT Crew Cab, custom bed, diesel - $17750

I need to sell this truck. The city of Lenexa claims it to be prohibited to park in residential areas. First, they claim it to be a flat bed. Now they claim the designated weight specification is greater than 1 ton and that makes it prohibited. The truck has a empty weight of 6500#s, GVWR of 11,500#s. My Forenza has a empty weight of ~3100#s, and a GVWR of 3737#s. Both should be prohibited. ...

Wouldn't it be cheaper and easier to just buy a regular bed for it and sell the B&W bed?

You would think so. I've got the custom bed listed also on CL. I priced it at 1/3 cost of new (~$8-9000). Didn't see anything like it listed on the areas CLs to help price it. Couple weeks ago saw one like it listed, without the top bed boxes, asking $5300 but it also had dual rear wheels. It is no longer listed. Sold? I don't know. So now, I've got it listed at $2500. Over the ...

Someone at the city has it out for you. They're saying you can't park a stock F350 on there (which is what you'd have if you replaced the flat bed with a pickup bed)? According to these specs , my wife's Suburban DD must be illegal too. It's 222.4" long (18.5 feet). 6327# curb weight, 8600# GVWR, and 2273# payload weight (a bit over 1 ton). I think you'd be okay if you could ...

Interior pics. See the little wear in the driver's seat. I put steps on the truck so this will limit the rubbing getting in/out of the truck. The TSB controller operates but shows a fault. It worked just fine pulling a 20+' trailer through CO and Moab. Brakes on the trailer still operated fine. I think it is in the wiring at the taillights as the window sticker states a 7-pin connector and there...

dang mike.....want to just park it at my place? If I could afford it....lol

spunebil replied 2 months ago
to bad you couldn't either park it in your own garage or rent a storage garage to park it in. another option would be to move out of comradville lenexa

tschafer replied 2 months ago
Mike you are welcome to park it in front of my house. I never park there and there won't be an issue with it being here unless you park in my driveway and block a straight line for the sidewalk.

So basically, you're the only person in your entire neighborhood with a 1 ton truck? Seems like a bunch of 5 foot nothing soccer moms would be driving Suburbans and Excursions over there. But then what do I know, other than the only thing I would have up for sale is my house.

Sold the bed off the back of the truck. Now it is a true c&c. Still haven't heard from the city about the pickup bed on the back. I got a call yesterday from the code supervisor asking about the color of the bed. He recalled a 2-tone. He said he spoke to the prosecutor about it and that the prosecutor spoke to me about the color before. Yes, I said, and that the code states nothing about paint colors just that the factory design...

so get some dupli-color or whatever and paint the bed to match the cab, get it legal (by their standards), and then you can do whatever you please after that I would think (once it is accepted) _________________ USS Carl Vinson CVN-70 - 243 days underway and over 50,000 miles sailing over the Briney Deep - 1983 World cruise Proud to be a Charter member American Legion Riders post 21 Independence, Mo. I would bring my somewhat rusty, 91 ford ext cab long bed over for it. Its only about 4 different colors! _________________ "Some people never learn anything, because they know everything too early" '04 Rubicon, 4", 34's misc pieces...SOLD On to a new project! 1993 YJ with 60's and other goodies.

Instead of messing with all the suspension and driveline have you considered stretching the bed? Just pick a spot inbetween the fuel door and the rear wheel opening and insert 4". And if you don't want to mess with hand fabricating the filler piece find a POS used bed and cut the 4" from it. All the proper shapes and stregth would be there just weld it in and a little body work and repaint it. _________________ Darrin S...
