Thread: 1998 C230 rain water in trunk

I have noticed that when it rains, water get inside the trunk dripping from two sides where the trunk hinge arms are. If you are out side, it would be coming from the rear two corners for the rear windshield. This car is well kept, had it since new and nothing was done to the aft glass windshield. I tried removing the metal trim that cover the edges around the glass but was tight. how can I ...

If it's like my '93 R129 you will find that the third Brake light mounted on the boot/trunk-lid is the culprit. To check this as the source of the leak you can play a garden hose over the brake light. The answer is to disassemble the brake light and examine the seal, however usually just tightening the small fasteners will solve the problem.

I don't think the leak is from the Windscreen panel ... check it out probably from the boot RUBBER .... Ask someone go inside the trunk .. to check where is the leak ... you also may check the leak with soap water then , blow it with compressed air around the angle search for any bubbles ... that indicate for leaks ...
