Thread: 1986 Mustang recaro seats?

Any good upholstery shop can do the foam rework. As far as a "recover kit" I don't know. I have used a kit before and although it fit ok, it had to be reworked in areas. I would send them to a shop and let them do the whole job. If they are a good shop a grand doesn't sound that bad to me. There are alot of pieces on these seats. I have a 1986 Buick GN that these will be going in. I'm looking for a seat that will help elliminate body movement while on the Auto-X. Has anyone used the RECARO seats out of a 1986 Mustang GT? and if so, How well did they work? These have the bolster for under the knee's that pulls out and the adjustable bolster for the bottom. I have the same seats in my 69 Chevelle, the only complaint I have is it's going to be so expensive to reupholster them. Otherwise they are very supportive. Mine are out of an '85 turbo T-Bird and have a solid headrest, I like them alot. Any idea if anyone makes replacement foam/upholstery for them? Please let me know. I was quoted close to $1000 bucks to recover.
