Thread: 1969 GTO - Scale Auto Community

Started 10 months, 2 weeks ago by 69bronzeT5
I built this '69 GTO using the old Monogram version that I got off Ebay in August 2007. I built it to look like my dad's old '69 that he had. Ram Air 3 (he had Ram Air 4 decals on it though), 4spd, blue, blue interior. I thought I had some finished pictures on my Photobucket but I guess not so I'll have to dig them up.

I've built this kit twice, and the fit between the lower front valence panel and fender bottoms was always poor. The fender bottoms were curled inward, requiring the builder to spread them slightly outward when gluing the valence in place. The body proportions always looked great to me, though, and the Rally II wheels look great when de-chromed and painted in the correct argent finish and ...

Nice looking Goat. Question on the exposed head light? How did you make them?

I used the headlights from the Revell '68 Firebird kit. I cut the tabs off and they fit perfectly.

Nice Ride... Like the blue color scheme. In your pics of dads car, did it have a vinyl top? I like your headlight idea as well. Im building a 69 Lemans cv to match the 1:1 I had. I too am doing the headlight trick. But I may have to change to your idea :) Thanks... gto guy

It had a vinyl top but he took it off. He left the chrome trim on though. I haven't had a chance to put the trim on my model yet.
